Thread: The Battle of Nicaea

    Default The Battle of Nicaea

Spain vs. Italy (me). It's going to be a big one.

After refusing to let their crusade come through my lands to suck up my high end troops, war was declared. They beat me up pretty good on the seas with their Caravels. Best I could do was match up with Fire Galleys, and most of the time I got crushed. So I figure the only chance I have is to suck up a few of their territories and then get them to accept a ceasefire. By the way, they have accepted 3 ceasefire over the past 4 turns, and then gone on to sink my ships right after. NO MORE!!!!! Now I will crush them. Problem is I've gone red, so I have to do it with what I have on the map. Landwise no problem, but if I don't move quick enough they'll have complete control of the seas and will be able to amphib attack me where I'm weak.

We're squared up along the Const and Nicaea border. They have a very good 2 stack army there that was left over from a previous crusade. I have an excellent 4 stack army ready to pounce. I notice that most of both our units have heavy armor (i.e. I have several ILI with the bronze colored shield upgrade, I think that means +2). Spain has several royal knights and other units with armor upgrades. Is it worth it to attack him and risk the fatigue (since we both will be affected), or maybe better to bait him to attack me on my turf in a not so arid place. I'm not afraid to reduce my army in Const in order to lure him.

Seems like you're worried about the dreaded desert-induced fatigue for armoured troops. AFAIK,that does not occur in Asia Minor. I think that the desert region starts in Syria.

BTW, this sea-attack-despite-ceasefire is quite normal for the AI. If you have ships in the same sea region, the AI may very well attack, even if it had just agreed to a ceasefire. Maybe the ceasefire order does not travel so fast at sea :-)

thanks Mikkele. I was just looking at the campaign map and second guessed myself as to where the "desert" actual began. Adios Espana! I was going to be nice and ceasefire my way back into some trading so I could reverse my deficit, but now it's full scale war to the death.

Kill the spanish I hate them all. I have had enough myself atm playing against them. I have massacred at least 5 Huge armies in Tunisia And my general ther is now 9 Stars and all the troops valoured to hell and back (Valour 8 Camels, with general bonus, chew up Chivalric Knights like they would Toilet Paper). They just keep coming.

They control of the sea's now which is getting annoying but I just got Booms. Mwahahahaha!!! And I eventually found their king and now 20 Emissaries are tailing him for a ceasfire. I just got bored of there knocking on my door. I intend on massing a huge army/Jihad and blazing through Spain Western Europe. massacring everything on sight. Try to kill there heirs and get some new and old factions to emerge. =D

    But YAS Kill them all!!!
