Dominators or Wimps???

Since the v1.2 patch I've been getting a lot of the same encounters with other factions Diplomats.

Their demand: 'Accept or we will attack'
Their offer: 'Please do not attack'

Each time this happens I have to laugh.

Really, that's funny.

For me it was I who did that to the poor AI. I mean, those arrogant bitches came to me making threats...
Them: Accept or we will attack
They ask me to: Pay us XXXXX denarii

I just counter it this way...
My new proposal: Accept or we will attack
Them: Accept or we will attack

Of course, they accept and I got a transgression message (stating I've abused them diplomatically)

I've been getting a lot of the "accept or we will attack" demand with the "please do not attack" plea as well. I have yet to figure out the logic of the combination--must be the same programmer who did the general's traits. They do attack within two turns. But it seems their demand could be a bit more useful to them. And so far I couldn't get them to accept any reasonable counterproposal.

I have seen it a few times... Not many though. Seems odd and I can never make up my mind for it. Do I accept or do I reject. It is often the seemingly easiest questions that are the hardest to answer.

I'd love a computer to say "attack, and you'll be put to the sword" and actually have that happen

I mean I want to get surprised from a clever AI opponent, and totally ambushed and slaughtered - all of my men. I'd rather lose a horrifying battle and lose the whole game rather than plod along on the exact same boring tone as always....

I always counter that with a message "Become protectorate, Accept or we will attack"...

Its rather amusing when it happens.

Well I will chance and say no joke.
There is actually a 'Please do not attack', but it only emerges when the enemy has said 'Accept or we will attack'.

Well, listen what happened to me: I was playing as Julii, v1.2 hard/hard, it was about 260bc and the Gauls suggest that I give them back 3 cities (2 in nothern Italy and 1 in west of Alps) for a ceasefire. I thought smiling that the AI just give a damn as always

, offered them to give me 10000d, but what the hell-a full stack with a good general (5 stars) attacks my 500 men (2 hastati, 1 velite, 1 equite, 2 barb merc) right away and beats crap out of my army with a tactful flanking. Damn I couldn't believe my eyes!

in my current campaign as Germania the Dacians are broke and are sending diplomats all over the place saying pay 800 denari or we will attack but they nver did.
