I don't know, but it's not too many. Rowing is mostly legs and back. If it was how many squats I could do, now...
Don't know what a puchups is?
Is it a push-up?
Before I seperated my shoulder for a second time - I could do over 70 in two minutes.
And bench my body weight for 4 sets of 10 before I would begin to get fatiqued - body weight was 215 at the time.
Now I can't do any - the shoulder motion required no longer exists - and the body collaspes onto the ground.
However I can still do a lot of on your knee's push-ups - less stress on the upper chest and shoulders.
O well, seems like 'some' people decide to ruin a perfectly valid threat. Nice going guys... doc bean
Well if its orange creamcicle pushups I can do about 10 of them.

There are many ways of attempting a push-up.
A real push-up is taken slowly with hands placed on the floor directly under your shoulders and your chest touching the ground on every push-up.
You must of course assume the Jaeger position (standing on hands and the tip of your toes having a flat back).
I could do 100-150 very fast push-ups where my chest only reaches halfway to the floor and by back is arching.
The real way, only about 50.

All these people in bad faith and self deceit stating not what they are but something completely different. It is great, brilliant inspiration for writing Sartre coursework.
I can do 50,000 of course, well I could if I was superman, you understand.

I can do 30, honest JAG no lies![]()
You think to high - if your going to make it up - make it at least realistic. Say somewhere around 150 push-up at one time. That is both possible and would make someone actually think that you have the ability. I have known several people that can do a little more then that - but hell your only still a kid - so I make it even more realistic for yourself and say 50-60.Originally Posted by JAG
But it seems that instead of leaving this as a front room topic - you have decided to bring backroom type discussion here. Poor misunderstood Jag - can not carry a civil discussion with people - nor can he allow them their own realistic views even in the front room - without attempting to call everyone a lair.
Notice how many people have keep it at realistic and very possible amounts for them to, but in your normal bombastic way - you bring Satre into the discussion. You think to highly of Satre - almost to the point that it seems you worship his philisophy and writings. If so you have just lost the moral high ground in arguing against any religion - since you in essence are practicing a religion.
What is it Jag - jealous because you have no upper body strength? So you believe that no-one can have some strength in their upper body - either now or in the past. I am pushing 40 - with a seperated shoulder and like I said I still do two sets of twenty push-ups on my knees - are you attempting to state in your normall offensive and sarcistic way that we are all lairs. Have you been to my house and seen my physical activities - have you been to anyone's house and seen what they do for a physical workout. One must remember that this is a world wide community - consisting of people of different ages and backgrounds - not everyone is full of self-deceit nor are we all sad little boys that can not remain civil even in a light discussion about ourselves and our own physical strength.
By the way Jag - care to guess what the minimum number of push-ups the military expects of someone in your age group - and what every member of the military trains for in the United States. And my understanding is that the British military has the same physical standard - or maybe slightly higher.
The range of pushup from the tables I remember for the age group of 18-24 is 45-80 pushups in two minutes. And I saw lots of people max the number of pushups in this range. The numbers I have seen posted by members of the community seem to all fall slightly below this range - which would meet my realistic expectations of a bunch of civilians - that do not train everyday on doing push-ups
When I left the army - my required range was 40-68. Passed the PT test numerous times with a 3rd Degree AC seperation of the Right Shoulder with more then 50 push-ups in two minutes - and before it re-sperated was doing an average of 68-70. Not all that hard when you train yourself and your body to accomplish the task.
But go ahead with your narrow world view of self-loathing.

I work-out 2/3 times a week, alternate upper and lower body workouts.
On the upper body day I do:
10-15 Triangle Pushups
10-15 Pushups w/ legs elevated on a chair
15-20 regular
15-20 backwards- arms on chair/feet on ground.
I have been working out about 4 months but haven't gotten much better at pushups, but I have been able to increase weight of other excercises 10-20 pounds. Any advice?

Punchup=Pushup?
If so, I dont know/
Gotta train though so I can do 100 in 2 mins.
I have 4 years to train for that though, maybe 5.

Let me explain just a bit, it probably come across as I have my head in my ass but I was not questioning anything of what people say they can do, what I was laughing - admittedly probably to myself about - is how when people state 'well I could do this if I was fit' or 'I can do this if I wasn't tired after a long day' etc, they are deceiving themselves. What they are is how much they can do now, just like the question is, when you state what you could do, you are simply trying to give yourself extra credit for something you are not. I have been writing about this in my coursework about an hour before I read this thread, that is probably why I made the point.
As for me when I am being serious, I don't really know. I used to do around 60 a sitting, a day in a routine when I played rugby, football and athletics everyday a few years ago when I was 15/16, but I am not what I was then and now I don't really exercise at all anymore - no time. So rather than deceive myself and state what I could do if I was fit etc, I will state that I could only guess at around 20 ish.

JAG what the hell did you bring up your philosophy for? No one here said anything about how many they could do if they were fit. No one did!
