    Default I Bribed a Prince

    Yep. A prince...two actually.

I'm playing as the HRE and the Almos had a civil war, and 2 princes were part of one revolting army. I successfully bribed the army (no "You can't bribe princes!" message) and got both of them. They also didn't revert to their original names, they kept their "prince" names--"Prince Abdul," "Prince Hassan."

Which brings me to another subject. In a civil war, if the rebels "win," i.e. wipe out the loyalists, is the faction then controlled by them, or does it cease to exist and the rebels function like the rest of the generic ones?

I don't know how Princes keep their titles when they rebel, but they are just as bribable as any other rebel general.

As for the aftermath, if the faction loses, it loses. I've seen most of Europe rebel-controlled on occasion, with lots of factions gone, so I guess it must have been the rebels that killed them off....

no I'm pretty sure you can't bribe princes. Been a while but I'll check.

    2faced,

I think you were able to bribe them because as soon as they become part of the "rebellion" they ceased to become princes as such and are merely former royals - like in your own army when princes cease to become heirs to the throne they still retain their crown (on character description) to show they are royalty but are bribable. Hope that made sense.

Yes, it makes sense in a way, but what doesn't make sense is that civil war rebels are programmed to act like normal rebels. Maybe a better idea would have been to create a new, rebel faction that would start off at war with the original faction it rebelled from, somewhat like CivII for those who have or do play it.
