Well RTW did feel a little more kiddy like from MTW. I havent play MTW for a very long time, but I have a very good memory and both STW and MTW were more realistic though simple in their graphics. Now with all the green arrows (which I removed. lol) and kiddy colors compared to what they showed in their trailers, the lack of blood. The FAST PACE, STW fought much longer than RTW. But they have their reasons. I doubt if I will buy their next game, and I WILL not buy the expansion if it doesnt have 3D sea battles and naming your own armies. Even Legion2 has that feature. Nothing worse than not being able to name a Legion, it makes them LESS personal in a ROMAN game. Also the removal of Sea battles was bad idea, because these times were Loaded with sea battles, right now they are more of an annoyance than a feature.

Of course they should release another patch 1.3 the only reason is the added some SERIOUS bugs to the game in the patch, I felt sick when I seen the battlefield AI act the way it did, and Almost felt the patch wasnt worth using. But I decided to use the patch, but Morale and Battlefield AI is messed up, I think they can see that even though they are quiet about it. Something is wrong with their QA team, I really wish I was on it, I would have spotted several things.

I'll wait for more info before passing judgement on this one. If they were to focus their efforts into developing games for consoles to the detriment of their development of games for pc, then I would be extremely disappointed. However at this stage we really don't know what's going to happen. It's possible that with the success of their games so far, CA is looking to expand (not move) into other areas and game types. That could actually be beneficial to the continuing development of the Total War series, since additional success would bring in additional funds and experience.

Provided they maintain their commitment to the Total War series for PC, then I have nothing against them wishing to broaden their horizons and try new things. Let's not begin roundly condemning them before we really know the details of what's going on and what it all will mean for us.

SEGA / Creative Assembly Deal Signed

Sega of Europe confirm that they have signed a deal that will allow them to become a Total Warrior...

Sega of Europe has today announced that they have signed a deal with Total War developers Creative Assembly to publish the team’s forthcoming console title, Spartan: Total Warrior.

The game, which is set for release on Xbox, PlayStation2 and GameCube in September 2005, switches the action away from the strategy PC franchise to a third-person action/adventure strategy game set in the battles of the Roman Empire.

Commenting on the move, Sega’s European Marketing Director, Matt Woodley said, “Creative Assembly has delivered outstanding games from day one and Spartan: Total Warrior is another quality title befitting the exceptional standards of the team.”

We’ll have more on Total Warrior shortly...
This may be a very good game if they release it for PC. I really hope they do, but a company like CA won't be making two games as big as Spartan - Total Warrior and another Total War at the same time.

I really hope that they do make another Total War game, but I fear I'll be a little older when it comes out.......

here is the link to that article

I just hope they release an expansion for RTW that will allow more modding options, add sea battles, and have a kill statistic sheet built in the game and being able to name your own legions. lol

If they do that it will make RTW what it should have been from the start. The tools will help us make Medieval and shogun total war.

    Right?

Notice when Spartan is supposed to be released and compare to the time the TW games have needed. either they are basically finished or else it simply isn't as big a project. So fear not, there should be plenty time to develop another TW game.

At the end of the day, CA do this for a living, and a console deal with Sega would make them quite a bit of money. Console games are a BIG market. There is also no need to worry about patches, add-ons etc. so the need for post-release support is minimal.

It is in EVERYONES's interest to see CA making a commercially viable product, wherever it may be released. With money in the bank, there is a much greater liklihood of another TW release on PC.

Yes more money means CA will be able to develop games more easily but if they decide the console market is better fitted to suit their needs (makes them more money ) why would they need to come back to the totalwar series. I think they will make an expansion but if total warrior is a major success they will divert their attention away from all us strategy players and if they do this the next game in the series will be total rubbish.

    Bwian,

I doubt that. RTW is a good example of what happens when you shift focus. And going console implies an even bigger shift. I don't think CA really wants to be in the TW market anymore. They are looking for bigger pastures. If they make their money from console gaming, then the PC strategy is likely to be even more neglected as it will always get hind tit when fighting for resources.
    Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.

I agree with Red Harvest's assertion, CA will most likely neglect TW for a console that they HAVE to get right because they cannot patch which means more QA and more attention.

I just hope the expansion for RTW isnt stupid and adds more features and tools, and not just skins. because we can do the rest.

Pls lt stop saying that ca will get rid off tw series, they had a great succes with rome much better than mtw and now they have the money to have more crew and to expand they've done in the past some console games and the time wich is needed for this games doesn't seems too much to neglect tw series.Go here ,see they have done this in the past.I also agree that if they have the greates succes in the history of console games they will give up tw but i don't think it will happen.

The only thing that gives me a console feeling is that the units die too qucikly and the balancing of the units should be improved but apart from that everyrhing is better then mtw but i kind of fixed this when i gave the units 10 hipoints and increase armour and morale, the green arrows i removed also and the banners too and now it doesn't seem too kiddy and yes they move a too fast but this can be fix with vercin animation packer. Also i recently played medieval and the unit also rout sometimes instanly but the units die harder than in rome why don't you try to play both in paralel and you'll see some disapoitment in medieval since i had tought that also but when i played i've changed my opinion about it. Also don't forget that on their site they said they wan't to recruit more workers so let's see what they have prepared for us in the future, i think they can make an expansion this year since there were some rumours about this.
