an unusual problem

ok i have a completely new campaign map up and running, at least when the advice lady is open. i can end turns without a problem and i have played a good number of years in the campaign without any difficulties, but only with the advice window open.

when the advice window is closed however, the game crashes almost immediately when i end a turn.

anyone know why this might be? please help, i'm stumped.

whats even stranger is the fact that it doesn't occur with all factions just some of them

Have you edited anything in the UII folder.

Well maybe, in each of the UI culture folders there are different portraits for advisors. These are specific to culture and so that would explain why its only for certain factions.

Thats the best I can think of...

no i didn't edit the advisor pics, the only thing i did in the UI folder was change the shared01.tga and stratpage02.tga in the carthaginian/interface folder, but only in the carthaginian folder, you think that might be a problem

Well what factions does it work for and which ones does it not work for, if it doesn't work for the carthaginians and the factions which use that culture, then its likely to be that...

Try replacing it with a backup and see what happens.

Otherwise, have you edited export_advice.txt?

haven't edited export_advice.

but i'll try reinstall, then added my changed files one by one and see what happens thanks for the help, i'll let you know what happens

thanks for the help, the problem appears to have been associated with some character name changes i made, everytime it tried to generate a new character name for adoption it CTD'ed.
