Default AAARGHGGHH!!! I've lost my VI CD

Since I've recently got 1 MEG broadband I thought it was about time I tried d'loading all those really cool MTW mods. Or in the case of NTW, try d'loading it again as I could never get it to work after spending hours downloading it on dial-up.

So I've got NTW d'loaded, installed. Double click on the MTW icon and..."please insert the correct CD". ARRGFHGHGHHGHGHGH!!!!!! I've got my MTW 1 & 2 cd's but no VI CD

    This sucks.

And I can't even ask for a no CD crack as its against .org policy...

Wouldn't mind so much if I hadn't bought the expansion the day it came out

    No NTW for you!
"I request permanent reassignment to the Gallic frontier. Nay, I demand reassignment. Perhaps it is improper to say so, but I refuse to fight against the Greeks or Macedonians any more. Give my command to another, for I cannot, I will not, lead an army into battle against a civilized nation so long as the Gauls survive. I am not the young man I once was, but I swear before Jupiter Optimus Maximus that I shall see a world without Gauls before I take my final breath."

Compusa (and other places - Best Buy etc.) have the Battle collection for about $20. That's pretty reasonable.

Soon, I am going to have to buy another copy so my son and I can play together on our lan. *grin*

How come the cd crack is a big policy around here.I have another game release by Activsion and it was the same needed cd to play the game. The developers now out of business released a patch that you could play with out the cd it was always possible with StarFleet Command 3 but they decided to tell us that the developers. What is it about the cd and there probably is a way to play without it?I am considering putting all my cds in a fileing cabinet sometime but what is about the policey on the cd crack and no need to lock this thread as I just want to know as it is better to play without the cd imho it is all on your HD anyway there is no need for the cd?It is just pain to go and look around for the cd to play the game especialy when you are getting ready to play online. We have been through all this with StarFleet Command 3 and it is better not to have the cd as player have had theirs damaged from putting in and out so many times.I am just asking a question?

The main reason (one of the mods will correct me if I am wrong) is that while YOUR intentions may be honorable. The information could (and VERY LIKELY WOULD) be used by other with less than honorable intentions.

Many people work very hard to make the game you are enjoying (I myself have been in the software business for 20 years, so this issue is near and dear to me).

EVERY TIME someone makes an illegal copy of a CD or uses a workaround to avoid buying a CD - you are taking money away from people who worked hard for it.

Once again, while you might have the best of intentions, the policy of this message board is to not even go there.

I agree whole-heartedly with the policy of this board. I hope that helps explain it a bit.

PM me if you would like to chat about it further.

I bought my own backup copy of the VI CD for NZ$25.00 just in case.
