    Default Sega buy CA

    I reported this earlier here:
    https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=4464

And I was informed it might be good to post it here. Sega have bought CA for $30 million, and now own it 100%. They have full control over CA and hopefully, it also means more moeny for CA. Sega have always liked the PC market, check out their upcoming games, Shenmue Online, Phantasy Star Online:Blue Burst...some of their biggest titles, so this isn't all doom and gloom.

Jesus when you think Rare cost Microsoft 300 million (I think....was that dollars of pounds?) that is a cracking bit of business. Should do well out of that one, CA have to be one of the best up and coming developers.

You might think so, but when you realise that CA's TW series(5 games) has only sold 1 million copies world wide since its inception, they're not as big as you think.

They are big from a PC POV but other than that, they're still small.

Yeah how much is that in revenue? They'll get a better return than Microsoft pound for pound when it's all said and done. What the hell have Rare done in recent years? Grabbed by the Ghoulies and ????.....Don't get me wrong, I loved their N64 days, but they will never recapture those glory years. Plus with CA entering the console market things are bound to be

I know, I expect this to be a million+ seller. As long as the TW fans don't boycott it like they have said they would.

edit-You can't really see the future, so how do you know that this wont be like the whole rare debacle?

Of course I can't see the future, but Sega have obviously had some sort of insight to CA's future projects and like what they see. They're a modest, small, hard-working developer and I like to think they'll do well; after all, they deserve it. I think Rare got a little too big for their boots after GoldenEye, plus many of their best staff left to form Free Radical. I don't think they'll ever be as creative or successful as they once were.

Edit: Sorry I see you were talking about Rare.

All i said was that you were saying this would be better than microsoft buying Rare, and i said, you dont know if CA will be good or crap.

    Hows that confusing?
