I have a new campaign map, but whenever I send an army into a rebel province the game crashes. Does anyone know what might cause this problem?
The only files that I have edited are the ones in my campaign folder.
Thanks

Seems to me like the game does not know what your province should be called. If you have only edited files in your campaign folder I'm assuming you haven't created data/text/my_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt
This file links the names of settlements and provinces in descr_regions.txt (eg: Britannia_Inferior) to the name that is displayed ingame (Britannia Inferior). This has to exist because the game code cannot cope with spaces (hence the _). Once you have done this file for all your provinces and settlements this should eliminate your error.
I think we would need more details to help you.Originally Posted by Prince Laridus Konivaich
Which files did you modify? What did you change in them?
Did you use -show_err?
Does CTD happen in only one specific region or in all the rebel regions?
With this information would be easier to find the problem.
Cheers.
I am using show_err. As far as I can tell it affects all rebel regions.
I was looking at the problem more, and it actually seems to occur only when you click to siege a rebel city.
I do have a my_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt, and have all of the names edited in it. I believe that I have edited every file in the campaign folder except for: map_FE.tga; map_heights.hgt; unlocked.txt; water_surface.tga;
The files descr_events.txt; descr_mercenaries.txt; are empty.
the files in my campaign folder are: descr_disaters.txt; descr_events.txt; descr_mercenaries.txt; descr_regions.txt; desrc_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup.txt; descr_strat.txt; descr_terrain.txt; description.txt; map_climates.tga; map_FE.tga; map_ground_types.tga; map_heights.hgt; hap_heights.tga; map_regions.tga; map_roughness.tga; water_surface.tga; map_features.tga map_trade_routes.tga; disasters.tgz; unlocked.txt; *(any misspellings of the file names are unintentional, I have not renamed any of them)
The only other file associated with my campaign in my_campaign_regions_and_settlement_name.txt in the Text folder.
Thanks

I had a similar experince when playing with Linedog's expanded map, I got a CTD whenever I tried to interact with a rebel army (attack or diplomat). I had to delete the map.rwm file and let it be regenerated. Beats the hell outta me why the map file would go buggy only when you tried to attack rebels but not other factions, but there it is. Hope that helps you.

Does it crash when you attack a rebel army, or just a rebel settlement?
The game only crases when rebel cities are attacked. I am still tweaking the map so map.rwm is deleted every time that I start the game up.

An interesting development: the error seems to be related to either the Britons faction or armies lead by family members. I was just playing my map as the greek_cities and I sieged a rebel city with no error.

I just tested the Britons, and it seems that the error was caused by the britains being the only playable faction, because now I can interact completely with rebel armies and provinces.
Thanks to those who gave advice.
