Sme day it is pretty good but others it is not. Personally cursing and violence do not faze me, the main thing I do not like is there is no character that I like.

I quite enjoyed it, even though I missed the last 2 episodes.

Although I do think they went a bit over the top with the swearing.

Is a good show .... not great, but good - by todays standards great.

The swearing? Well, consider the characters - pimps, whores, drunks and the lowest form of mankind. With out cursing they would have no adjectives to express themselves. :O)

Just started getting into HBO's "Carnavale", missed the beginning episodes - thought it was about a carny thing during the depression - dismissed it without realizing its true import. Oh, well. The depiction of the depression is very real - damn depressing. Hard for todays children to realize that 70 years ago (before Social Security, Welfare, Unemployment, HealthCare, etc) that so many things were wrong about America - sorta depicts how close we came to following communism or fascism too.

    Deadwood, is a hoot though.

I agree. The show has gotten some criticism over the abundance of profanity, but it is depicting an Old West mining camp, and an illegal one at that. It was a place that was filled with rough characters and the scum and dregs of society, and those kinds of people were notoriously profane. I see the profanity as adding to Deadwood's realism.
