Favorite Anime Series, movie, or Manga?

Well I a big fan of anime so I wondering what you guys think are the best Series, movie or manga inspired anime?

Mine:
Series: Escaflowne(flawless, can't waut to get it all on DVD)
Movie: Rorouni Kenshin(I know it's techinically an OVA but I think it works as a movie as well, plus it's also flawless)
Manga inspired movie: Akira(flawed, but still an amazing movie)

I would have to say Akira for best movie. Something from the Tenchi group of series for best series and for Manga I have no idea, I do not read much of it.

Have you ever seen Escaflowne? In my opinion its the best series I have ever seen. I've heard good things for FLCL as well.

I guess I liked Escaflowne the best too. Battleship Nadesico was very good though, so was detective conan, and I liked the first third of sabre marionette.

I dont watch it myself, but half the **** population of my school reads Manga. It's sickening how they can't read books like The Prince or the Art of War but they can read Manga.

The Art of War is too dry for a normal reader to read. Hell you can't say you remember everything after reading that.

First of all, i will admit i'm not a manga/anime fan: i don't look for any new series and related stuff, yet i do like some of it.

My personal favourite would be either Rurouni Kenshin or Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken -too bad this one was never completely animated -...

Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, Mononoke and Cowboy Beebop are all great!

But IMO DBZ gets very repetetive, no real suspense after a while....

Fave Anime Movie: End of Evangelion or Tenci Muyo in Love 2:Tenchi Forever

No big Manga fan and so on, but Ghost in the Shell 1 % 2 was amazing to watch. Cant imagen how much work went into making those movies.

actually Spirited Away is Anime, which is about 2 mm away from Manga IMO.

Manga -
Escaflowne - I love this one, it has everything...You are a wise man (or woman ) Byzantine Prince to pick this - I saw it all on DVD a few months ago, and it made a big impression. Wish

Also FLCL is pretty good but rather random. If you are fond of FLCL (which is VERY VERY DIFFERENT from Escaflowne and f***ing nuts btw) then I suggest Excel Saga - about the same level of craziness but a bit more focussed in its insanity. And easier to understand. And with a main character I can't help find sexy for some messed up reason (Excel looks really sexy in the books in particular I think...)

Lone Wolf and Cub looks interesting... is it similar to the series "Blade of the Immortal"? (also pretty good itself). Another suggestion (book) for something similar to blade of the immortal but more sci-fi would be Battle Angel Alita - particularly the original series (Which is much better than the newer ones). Brain addicted giant killers are amusing...

As you may have guessed now, I am a big reader/ watcher of manga, including whats nicknamed the "Harem" types. I'd strongly suggest Love Hina (the daddy) and Ai Yori Aoshi if thats at all in your taste. These tend to have a single male character who is a bit of a ditz and several good looking women, etc - you can see how it goes from there.

Avoid Ragnarok and Chobits, for different reasons. Full Metal Panic starts well but gets sucky fast I think.

I've seen Cowboy Bebop in my local manga store, seems decent enough... but not exciting enough to make me fork over the earnings I get from screwing up mother earth with all that nice lovely oil.

So, in regards the original topic: I'd say...ehhmmm... actually there is no one type of manga so I'd say I've named the best I know of each type. Since your taste seems good Mr Org member still known as Prince feel free to make any suggestions for this addicts consumption!

I don't really like manga or anime, it just too strange.

Example:

I remember a few years ago two of my friends watched an anime movie. One of them tried to describe it to me. All I remember was something about one of the characters being given a magic penis . He said he was going to get drunk and watch it again to see if it made any more sense.

LOL, I've seen every episode of Love Hina. It's hillarious but kind of nerdy. If you want the best of the Genre download Golden Boy. It's like 6 episodes but it's soooooo funny. I cried from laughter the first time I saw it. It's a little verbally explicit though.

I've seen Battle Angel Alita, a.k.a. Gunnm, but it looked too old and outdated so I didn't like it.

Anyways right now I'm trying to get the DVD collection for Escaflowne. I love that show so much but I can't find it anywhere in store.

Manga would be the books, and anime would be the movies/tv shows.

Manga is basically a japanese comic book that sometimes is converted to animation. Anime is just japanese animation.
