    Default Absence of Historical Figures

Where are Ceasar, Augustus, Hannibal and the other great figures of the Roman Era. In MTW i encountered atleast 20 historical figures Like William Wallace, El Cid, Friedrich Barbarossa, Jeanne D'arc, Lord The Lion, William Marshal, Tancred (one of the leaders of the 1st crusade), William Tell and other great names.

Yap, I miss Decebal and burebista. When they show up they're just diplomats or spies, not GMCs (Great Millitary Commanders). Bleah...

If you don't get Hamilkar killed off, you will eventually get Hannibal.

Gaius Julius is Caesar or at least his line.

    Augustus I don't know about.

Archimedes is a siege ancillary that is great.

I think the historical figures are fine but a need for a GA type mode for non-Romans.

Well to get Gaius Caesar you need to get somebody named Caesar to marry one of your daughters. Then if your lucky they might be a son named Gaius come along eventually. To get Augustus you need to have a grand-nephew of Gaius named Octavian. Threw Gaius's sister Julia who has a daughter named Atia who marries a man named Octavius.

There are lots of ancilliaries with historical names, well they are the historical figures. You will know because they are normally an upgraded version of a more normal ancilliary, such as an Engineer. And they are of course named.

i know that, saw figures like Archimedes and stuff but i'm talking about the generals
like Jeanne D'Arc being pious and El Cid a great warlord, and that kind of things, or William Tell showing up in Crossbow unit and William Wallace in a Scottish warrior unit that kind of things, oke now the got to be family members but they can also be captains, or members that married into your family

I didn't say that I didn't agree with you. I just find that there are many more historical figures in RTW than in MTW. I once had a general with 8 historical ancilliaries. They weren't that great but it looked cool.

I would love for certain historical generals to pop up when the circumstances are for it. Such as a Hannibal being born about 20 years into the game and will come out with the Military Genius (+4 to command) trait when he comes of age.

I wondered about this too, but I have spotted a hannibal, and a gauis julius, and then started thing with a family tree, this game is more of a what if then a dictacted history tree. Random factors with with said tree will not always keep the same offspring every game. To be honest I like this feature more, but for quick campaigns they could have added a starting figure from history.

I am still playing a long campaign and I havent reached the civil war yet and right now I have 3 main generals fighting 3 different factions. I will make my own julius ceasar from this mix, if they havent died of old age by then..:)

On that note, I find it funny that my faction leader is currently 85 when everyone else seems to have died in their 50-60's. But I just figured it was cuz I moved him to the capital at 50 and havent done a thing with him since.

Maybe the names Julius and Augustus Caesar only turn up closer to the end of the game. After all, they werent alive in 200bc.

Some factions do begin with their original king, I believe. If you start a Pontus campaign for example, their faction leader is called Mithradates, with Macedon it's Antigonos, with the Seleucids it's Antiochus, etc., and they were their historical leaders in 270 BC weren't they? And I even wouldn't be surprised if their ages are about right too...

Ok did some checking about who was king of the civilized peoples in 270 BC. If someone else would corroborate with the game that would be great. Couldn't find anything about Numidia or Carthage tough.

King of Macedon, Antigonus II Gonatas
King of the Seleucid realm, Antiochus I Soter
    King of Pontus, Mithridates I
    King of Armenia, Orontes III
    King of Pergamum, Philetaerus
Kings of Sparta, Areus I and Archidamus IV (Sparta was always a diarchy)
    Tyrant of Syracuse, Hieron II
Pharaoh of Egypt, Ptolemy II Philadelphus
Parthia's first King in 250 BC, Arsaces I

    Mithridates was King of Pontus.

Faction heir: Pharances is correct as well (his son.)

Mith lived to be 70+ years old...but in the game he died within two turns...boy was I angry.

Good book on Pontus: THE LAST KING

Around 40bc i actually got a child in the Julius Familiy named Augustus. He just turned up to be a terrible leader, guvernor and political leader. I ended up sending him to suicide.

Augustus was Grandnephew to Caesar. So he wasn't really a part of the Julius Familiy. He was more related to the Scipio Metellus.. Or not. Can't really remember.
