    Default Speeding up the marian reforms?

    As the Marian reforms now happen in year 220, I've usually just about finished the campaign when the reforms come around...So, is there any way to make the reform happen earlier than 220?

    I've tried to change the date in descr_events.txt in the imperial campaign folder, but that didn't work....
    So, does anyone know what to do?

    It's hard coded. The only way to change it is remove the requirement "and marian_reforms" from the associated units, but that doesn't really achieve what you're after.

    Two things that bother me most about this game:

    1. Hard coded Marian Reforms.
    2. Hard coded Victory Conditions.
    3.... no,

    Three things that bother me most:

    1. Hard coded Marian Reforms.
    2. Hard coded Victory Conditions.
    3. Grey Senate mission logic - part hard code, part not.
    4..... Oh, I'll stop. I really like the game (modded) for the most part.

    Hmmm...Now, why would they hard-code an event?

    Oh well, might as well include the marian reforms at the start, never really had a chance to try it out anyway....perhaps the romans will be able to actually expand a little with the reform units available from the start...

    But, how do you enable the improved Generals bodyguard in the Imperial Palace? In 1.2, the "Improved generals bodygaurd" doesn't appear in the buildings description when I start the game, so I've always believed they appear after the marian reforms, altough I've never had a chance to test it, as I haven't got to the reforms in a game in 1.2 yet... However, the text from export_descr_buildings.txt doesn't mention the marian reforms on the generals bodyguard:

    faction_capability
    {
    upgrade_bodyguard 1
    }

    So, is it just hidden, but always available, or is it only available after the reforms, and if so, how do I change it so that it's available before the reforms?

    There are certain hardcoded triggers for the marian reforms. One, it now appears, is the date. 220BC is the figure banded about a lot but I have not confirmed this personally. It seems then that having the reform before this date is not possible. But it may well to possible to make sure that it happens as soon as possible after then by ensuring all those triggers are met by that date.

    Conversely, you could postphone the reforms by making the other triggers harder to achieve.

    I have tested the hard-code several times and the results keep pointing to (2) conditions; Imperial Palace and no earlier than 220.

    Personally, I really don't care for the early infantry (hastati and princeps). So I changed the availability of Legion Cohort i to pre-reforms and made them unavailable after the reforms.
