Yeah, I have to say, I am becoming slightly addicted to this game, after playing it for about a week now. It's the first text based MMORPG that I have played.
After reading the thread mentioned by Moromete, which was started over at the twcentre, and checking out the main DarkThrone website, I thought I would sign up. I also joined the twc alliance, which hopefully, will prove to be a strong and helpful alliance, even if it never grows in size too much. I feel that we will probably prove to be more loyal to each other, than a lot of the other alliances.
So anybody interested, pop on over to the twcentre and take a look at the thread, and join the alliance.
So far we have helped each other out with advice, money, recruiting and even the odd revenge attack on other players.
maybe we should make an org alliance?
thanks,
dizzy

I signed up, just figuring it out now. It's not so much at MMORPG as a MMOTBS. I am jurien221, I'm up for a .org alliance.

I don't think a .org alliance is a good idea. Any .org patrons can join up to the TWCenter Alliance, as it already has some members and a framework. I don't think it would be a good ideea for the RTW players on Darkthrone to split up forces. Also, I'm gonna be away for a few days and I think that anybody interested in the Alliance can send a message to General_MAximus and request and invitation.

a secondary alliance i mean't, since you can be part of three alliances.

dizzy

The only trouble with that is, when the game goes gold, they are thinking about limiting the alliances to just one or two. If it's two, that's OK, but if it's limited to just one, then you would have to make a choice, which would weaken both alliances.
Also, as there aren't a large amount of TW players signed up, from either site, it makes more sense to have the one alliance, and one place to ask questions, seek help etc. And as the twcenter has already got a structure in place, it seems better to me to use that.
Oh and by the way, I see you popped over to the twcenter and joined the alliance, so welcome.
If we do go down the road of having two allinces, I would suggest that both sides announce themselves officially as allies over at the Dark Throne Alliances Forum.
i also see somebodyelse tried to spy on me....
yeah ill send you back the money you gave me at the start of the game.
thanks,
dessa

It depends on how you want to play. I would say the best way is not to advance to fast, try to get as many miners as possible, so max out your recruiting clicks every day for at least 5 days in a row every week. Also if you are in an alliance, make sure you enable the alliance recruiter, and use that first.
As more money starts coming in from your miners, invest primarily in defence, and then offence. It's best to invest in the upgrades at the armoury, rather than just investing in training new troops. So try to get one of each top level item from each category, for each soldier you have trained. Also when you can afford to start to train up a couple of spies, and upgrade them at the armoury as well.
Each time you move up a level you will gain a proficiency point, at the start of the game, use them to increase your charisma, as each point you have in this decreases the cost at the armoury by 1 %, which for the more expensive items, really starts to pay off after you have risen a few levels.
Hope that at least will get you started. These are all things I have either learnt myself, or been given advice about by members of the twcenter alliance. So have fun.
By the way, Crazed Rabbit, zelda et al, I have clicked on all your links today.
yeah somebody else, i am completely paranoid i have huge defence and sentry values.
thanks,
dizzy

Keep a reasonably strong defence, but have little gold lying around. That way you're quite prickly to raid, for very little gain.
I tend to think the best defence is a good offence, especially when you conduct raids on people to steal...I mean redistribute their wealth.
On the other hand I've got over half my workers mining and the other half split equally between offence and defence and 4 spies. And nobody attacks me because I'm dirt poor.

Because I spend it all as soon as I get it.
it seems pretty intuitive and addicting
