    Default marmite

I love marmite, me. And surely if it stops children watching TV that is good?

    Marmite spreads fear
    Evening Standard
    16 March 2005
Advertisements featuring a giant blob of Marmite have left children "terrified" and having nightmares.
The TV campaign centres on a large brown object resembling the monster in Fifties science fiction film The Blob. In one, a couple run from the blob before the woman, seeing it is the yeast-based spread, jumps into it. The commercial ends with the slogan: "You either love it or hate it".
Six viewers told The Advertising Standards Authority their children, aged two and three, would not watch TV and had nightmares after seeing the advertisement. The ASA ruled the commercials should not be shown during programmes made for children
See for yourselves but don't blame me if you have nightmares

Heh. Got "Sorry, to view this ad you need to be resident in the UK"....so I reloaded and lied (will Scotland Yard be knocking on my door now?).

It's the yeasty-ness that turns the haters off to it, yes?

Wow, this xenophobia is going much too far. I wonder why foreigners are being denied the marmite experience? Possibly because it would be cruel to draw the existence of such a tasty spread to your attention when you can't buy it I suppose.

The thing is it doesn't actually taste yeasty. It is sort of indeterminately savoury.

Marmite is the tarlike residue that the company secretly harvests from the inside of long-term smokers' lungs. Its disgusting!

I would actually get sick if you made me eat it. My dad loves it though...

I couldn't agree more. it is absolutely disgusting. Although it's not just my dad who likes it, my mum and brother do to.

A marmite is a cooking pot is it not?

Oh, and marmite just isn't strong enough any more - I used to love it, but now I need un-economic amounts to get the necessary taste.

(Still my preferred breakfast spread on toast - lots of butter, lots of marmite...)
Don't have any aspirations - they're doomed to fail.

Don't let the fact that it looks more disgusting than anything on this planet fool you:

Marmite tastes far worse than that.

Marmite is great stuff. It's not too easy to come by in California, however.
