    Default Bridge routing

There was a recent topic about this but I can't seem to find it.

As many of you will be aware, there is a bug that when you defend a bridge, the routing units rout forward & through the defenders.

I've had a whole bunch of battles around northern greece of late & it seems that rather than always routing forward, they actually always rout southward.

I had a particular turn where the Dacians attacked the same river crossing twice, once from the north and once from the south.
The contrast between the two was startling.
The attack from the south routed backwards properly.

I'm pretty sure they rout east rather than west also but haven't had a battle being attacked from the east to verify that.

    Has anyone seen the same?
Or variations like always routing north?
    Further evidence of west/east?
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

    Hoom,

Not sure what you meant by south or north. But when the AI routs, they rout to the left or right of the player's side. They also rout towards the back, but I always catch them all before since I the cap in the bridge-box formation is always the strongest. (Do you mean south relative to the earth?)

One thing that is always constant is that they rout to the player's side, yes. I've mentioned this to GilJaysmith in one of the Spartan Total Warrior thread, but he didn't' addressed it.

I mean south as in towards the south in the game world ie towards the bottom of the campaign map.

Like I said, in multiple battles where I have been attacked from the south (enemy towards the bottom of the campaign map) I have seen the enemy correctly rout back towards their side (the south)

Did you really think that asking Gil about this in a thread about the console game would actually elicit an answer?

I've never seen enemy units rout to their side of the field before, so I'll keep a lookout.

Not sure if you've read the thread but it was within context and I only used it as an example

Yes it is true that the routers often rout towards the enemy side of the bridge in bridge battles, which leads to mass extinction lol. I think CA didn't really fix this even though they had mentioned to us they it is fixed in 1.2.

When the enemy rout, they always rout towards the player's side of the bridge; when they RETREAT, they do so towards their side.

    Hoom,

I have Massilia besieged (and my army is in-between the bridge). Enemy attacked my back thus:

    Attacker (enemy)

    --Ford ----Bridge/River----------------->

    Defender (my army).

    Besieged (enemy reinforcements)

All the enemies routed to my side (south). Is that what you're saying?

all the bridge battles i fought with 1.2 the AI routed towards their side of the map. but in 1.1 they allways routed my way but only when they were over the bridge.

I've just experienced the same thing. I had a bridge battle and the casualties were'nt too heavy on the bridge but my slingers(1 unit) and my Roman archers(1 unit) were wreaking havoc on the A.I.'s rear. Funny thing is the back of there army started the route first and they were on there side of the river. But mysteriously they cut through there fighting troops pushing them in the river and then break through my line with only a few men left.
