Default Fanny och Alexander, full cut

Wowowow what a great movie. 6 hours long(!), the only thing you can do after watching it is watching it again. The short version was good but this is sheer brilliance, it switches on the fly between horror, drama, comedy, and it all feels natural. The scene where the old jewish housefriend tells the story of the travelers and the well has to be the best scene that was ever put on film. Calling this movie anything other then perfect would be a lie. Bergman is a god.

The only thing I remember about this film is a scene where a sick, domineering priest turned stepfather beats poor Alexander bloody with a carpet beater. It was a very long time ago that I saw it though, and I don't think it was the "full cut." Nevertheless, I certainly don't remember anything about it that would even rank it in the top 500 films I've seen in my lifetime. But, to each his own ... .

Ah, I really liked that movie too. Haven't seen the full cut though. The bishop stepfather was nasty.

Well I can honestly say that this is the best movie I have ever seen. I 'liked' the short one, but this one wow just wow. It is 'Donnie Darko' meets 'Festen', at the end of the movie you feel like you know the characters, and some you like, some you love and some you hate. I have never seen anything like it.
