Thread: is a known bug?

    Question is a known bug?

whats happening is, I set a siege in a town and choose ladders for example in the siege contruction poll... (im playing Germania, no siege weapons available)... ladders go to the query, says 1 turn to complete ,, ok... then I end the turn and assault town,..,. no ladders? or no siege tower.... dont know if its a known bug or am I doin something wrong? (but checked the last time it happened before assault and said 1 ladder/siege tower built, same thing, when I started the battle in the field, no siege equipment and battle ended as close defeat)
im losing my heart on this :(

it might be part of the siege bug, i haven't encountered that problem wth any barbarian factions...

It depends on the size of the walls. Bigger walls - no ladders, only siege towers and rams (and sap points as a matter of fact).

    hmmm....
    the fact is ...
its happening with rams, ladders, siege towers. and sometimes it works correct. sometimes dont... anyway i will try re-install the software and apply the patch again... and then I will try to verify if its a bug or something here in my system/software whatever... thanks for your answers guys...

Well, if you are assaulting large stone wall or higher, ladders can be built but don't show up on battle map as they are too short and don't work.

Yes, this is part of the game that CA forgot about. In custom battle, it's fine. If you make a battle with epic walls, then it only gives you options for siege tower and i think sap points. But in campaign mode they forgot to include this. It's lead to a lot of tears before bedtime....

It happens to the AI too.

I usually check an enemy's besieging army to see if they're tooled up and to get an idea of when the assault might come. Rams and towers that show up on the equipment screen appear in the battle but often anything up to 4 ladders go missing en route.

Btw, i should have also said, it isn't a bug, just something that CA overlooked when they released the game

i knew there was a reason for it!
i didnt know you could build siege ladders if you can't use them in large sieges..
more often than not, i wait out sieges to avoid loss of men!

Craterus, if you want to win a siege against large/epic walls, just 3-4 towers, and set them to fire at will before you start them rolling. then the insane-machineballista will start firing, and will prolly manage to kill 1 or 2 enemy units before you reach the walls, making your job much easier.
