How do I upload a picture on to my post?

AAAAUUGGGHHH!!!!

I'm trying to post my first AAR but it's always a link instead of an image. I've done everything that those more knowledgable than I have said to do but it still won't put anything other than a link.

Is this because I'm still a junior member?

It may be, remember there are different links on the ImageShack website so use a few diffrent ones

I'm not using image shack though, I'm using a different website that has been reliable in the past and present. Right now my avatar and signature on a seperate forum are pics loaded on said website and both desplay perfectly.

I just don't see what's going on.

The box up top may say [IMG] code is on, but something is wrong or I'm held back for being a forum newb.

I wish forum mods would make a sticky of how to do this. Its been asked and answered several times over the last year.

This is my way of doing it. I have a basic Windows PC and RTW. No mods nor special picture programmes.

Here are the overall steps:
1) Take the picture
2) Alt tab from RTW into MS Paint
3) Paste image into MS Paint
4) Save as a jpeg file type with suitable name
5) Go back to game and play some more.
6) Later you upload the pictures onto the internet. I am back to Imageshack. There are many others.
7) Image hosting site should give you links...code..that you just copy and paste into the forum message.
8) Every coupe of weeks or so I delete the unused tgas files. Complete waste of space in my opinion. They just open as black images on my PC.

More details on the above:
1) My keyboard has a 'Print Screen' button in the top right hand corner. That stores just one picture at a time. So you have to go save it to 'Paint' before you take a second one or else you are replacing your first picture with your second.

2) Path to MS Paint on my Windows XP machine is Start>All Programmes>Accessories>Paint. Ive since made a short cut on my desktop so I can go stright to open Paint with just a click.

3) In MS Paint its Edit>Paste and your screenshot should appear.

4) Important to use file>'save as' and change both the image name and the file type to JPEG

5) I will take several pictures of some battles. Campaign shots are also interesting.

6) Choice of image host is important. I loved imageshack for years but they have recently lost about 5% of images without so much as an appology. They provide the best thumbnails and advertising is not too obtrusive. Imagehosting, photobucket...there are others.

7) The code is something I dont understand. I just copy what the imageshack provide and paste that directly into the forum. Dont have to add / or [. Nothing. Its just a copy and paste of the ready made code.
