Thread: new trigger for Marian reforms?

  1. #1

Default new trigger for Marian reforms?

Again, busy frog needing something for her guide. My mind has gone a complete blank; what are the new conditions for the Marian reforms in 1.2? A date in addition to the imperial palace, I think ....

    Thanks.

    1. Year has to be at least 210 BC. But can go up until 190's BC b4 the reform starts
    2. A city that has the hidden_resource italy has to build up until Huge City. Basically any city in the italian penninsula.

Thats why it took so long to get the reforms. My palace must have been built in BC 220~ and I was wondering what the heck was keeping the reforms from coming along.

its kind of a mixed blessings. U get to field pre marian troops longer, but basically u get 20-30 turns of boredom before the marian reforms hit. Most of my games gets decided by 220 bc :(

I believe the date is 220 BC not 210BC. I got the reforms in 217 BC in a post 1.2 patch game.

If you want the Marius Reforms to come more quickly, you can always edit your desc_strat.txt file so that you start the game at around -240 or so.

Not from wat i've heard. I think ppl did some tests and they found out that it's the amoun t of turns passed not the exact date that triggers it.

Then again I might be wrong here also.

So it is at least 100 turns after the beggining of the game?

    EDIT:
Although I did a different trick to get them early.
Instead of changing date in descr_strat.txt, I added a script in it, with "console_command date -220" (and thus skip turns, not change date of starting turn). Of course there is still random factor and need of imperial palace.

By the way, hidden_resource itally includes, exempt starting provinves, both italy gaul provinces, as well as whole sicily, although I never really tested that condition.

    EDIT2:
Also imperial palace needs to be by one of roman non-senate faction (I tried some testing).
