What's really interesting is the possibility of hooking up that sensor to send electrical signals to the muscles, so that they could move around again.

Cool, hopefully this will someday help quadrapalegics have a much better life. Someday it may even be a slight and temporary inconvenience. Imagine that...

I think it opens many more possibilities than that. Imagine controlling your car with your brain. Or the lock on your front door. Or even anything else.
In the other hand they are perfect tracking devices...
