Default Recording single player game to AVI?

I've been wanting to create some sort of Rome Total War music video for sometime but haven't been able to find any way to record in-game action both on the strategic and tactical maps yet. Does anyone know of a program that would allow me to record this into AVI or some other standard video format?

Fraps will give you about 4 frames per second, tho.

Ignore that, AMD4EVER, fraps is great for recording video. The problem is, however, converting the large files it creates into a smaller format without destroying the quality.
Oh and if you use the demo version you'll get 'www.fraps.com' tag stuck on your video.

I suggest you DON'T ignore my post, but instead, try it for yourself. There's a high probability you'll just get about 4 fps per seconds.
