The smaller the animal, the faster the metabolism, the more sleep it needs. Mice get like 18, cats get 14, humans get 8, elephants get 4. Or something like that, I can't remember the numbers exactly.

Well I voted for dogs, but I also love cats, tortoises, fish (both fresh & salt water varieties) plus a few others. At the moment we have one dog, two cats and one tortoise, although that actually belongs to my aunt & uncle, but they have asked us to look after her for them.

The point I was making (I admit I didn't make it very well) is that cats (mine anyway) slept more regularly as kittens. They tended to sleep in the night and awake in the day. Now, they sleep most of the day and only go out for 4 hours at most.Originally Posted by Gawain of Orkeny
I voted for rats. The other rodents listed aren't worth the time of day though.
As and when I move out of London I'll get a dog, either a border collie or an Airedale terrier. Not fair to have either of those breeds in a town though.
Me too.. i had them when i lived in New York and bigger animals werent an option my parents were willing to accept.
Now ive got horses, dogs and cats, yet i still have 2 rats.
They are just as clean as cats, just as friendly as dogs, and smarter than both of them.
It takes a bit of work to domesticate them because they dont come that way like most dogs/cats, but if you do, theyre just as fun without the mess.![]()

Forgot to include wabbits on the list so I guess they would fall under common rodent as well.
We had bunnies for awhile. I remember once my dad got so fed up with us chasing them around the backyard that he chased us around the backyard with a stick to "show us what it prolly felt like." Didn't like rabbits much after that. As I couldn't pay my dad back until many years after, I took it out on the poor bunnies. They got to be in pretty good shape though, all that running around while dad was at work.
