Greetings Europa Barbarorum fans!
Since our announcement of the open beta last week, the forums have been buzzing! We still feel that April will see the beta arrive, but again all dates are subject to change. Some of you prefer to look at pretty pictures than to read news about EB, and we know that last week was a bit of a disappointment for you. So this week we have several different things to feast your eyes upon.
Prometheus has been working on the republican Roman units. What you see below is a WIP of the early, Camillan Triarii. The Triarii were the third rank of the republican legion, called to battle if the attacks of the Hastati and Principes faltered. These early Triarii still fought in phalanx, and carried the full greek panoply. The spear length will be shortened from what you see below.
Aymar de Bois Mauri has been hard at work on the Iberian units. Here you see the Carthaginian, Iberian, and rebel Scutarii. The Scutarii are the rank and file heavy infantry of both Carthage and the Iberian tribes. They are armed with spears and two solifera. They wear good quality leather armor with a bronze disc (in the Gallic style) protecting their chest.
Here you see the Macedonian and Seleucid Hypaspistai, by Agart. Hypaspistai are the elite spearmen of the Macedonian and Seleucid armies. They are versatile and elite soldiers, often forming the right wing of the Hellenic battle line. Their heavy armor and weapons allows them to fight as elite spearmen or swordsmen, and they are able to fight the hardiest opponents.
Finally, Alin and Storm of Horus have been hard at work on new animations. Here you can see some examples of two-handed pike animations under development by Alin.
