Changes the weather as far as I know. However, don't expect great results. Weather isn't random, and so if it's raining one time period, there is a good chacne it will be raining the next time etc.

That is exactly right. This feature is a holdover frm the older games when weather, especially massive fog, could really interfere with armies. Imagine an archer heavy army attacking in a rainstorm: wet bowstrings = archer penalty. Clicking on the [WAIT] option gives you the opportunity to wait a couple of days and see if the weather gets better.Originally Posted by dgb

It was considerably more useful in MTW, in RTW the archers don't seem to have much of a penalty in rain.
While I have never been in the "It's been all down hill since Shogun" camp, the truth is that weather has never been as well done in TW as it was in Shogun.

Taking strategic elements out of strategy games is what makes them sell - at least that is what beancounters think - and they call the shots in the end. :(
I really wouldn't mind a duststorm that does more than look pretty when fighting a horde of pharoah's bowmen - same when fighting other insane archers, could use a little rain with some of the barbarians when the AI gets overly excited about Foresters and that is all you see from screen end to end.
When your attacking You get to wait for difrent days,
3 days maximum i think may be 4
each day can have difrent weather which could help or hinder either side,
That is why you may wait for better weather for your attack
defenders dont get to chose.
It is only the "starting weather" that is impacted as best I can tell. The weather changes every 5 minutes or so. So if you are in a climate that starts off with rain or snow, you will probably get snow or rain 5 minutes later, even if you start out with a clear day. (The sky might still appear relatively clear overhead though.![]()
Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.

. Not to mention, actual blizzards in STW.
I've seen 1 or so snowy weather in MTW but nowhere as frequent.
On occassional thunderstorms, then you can only see the enemy samurai. RTW could use this!!

The weather is always the same on RTW, just depends on where you are. Like on my campaign, most of my battle i bother playing are on the steppes, and it's always snowing or raining there. Now if i go down to the south, in Asia Minor or the Balkans, it's nearly always sunny.
I think the biggest change in the weather effects pertain to persistence. Weather was much more prolonged in Shogun. Rain could be light, moderate or heavy and last through the whole battle. Archery, visibility and fatigue were all influenced. Teppo were ruined of course but the rest of the troops suffered as well. Wind, fog and cold were common and significant too.
