Taking strategic elements out of strategy games is what makes them sell - at least that is what beancounters think - and they call the shots in the end. :(

I really wouldn't mind a duststorm that does more than look pretty when fighting a horde of pharoah's bowmen - same when fighting other insane archers, could use a little rain with some of the barbarians when the AI gets overly excited about Foresters and that is all you see from screen end to end.

When your attacking You get to wait for difrent days,
3 days maximum i think may be 4

each day can have difrent weather which could help or hinder either side,
That is why you may wait for better weather for your attack
    defenders dont get to chose.

It is only the "starting weather" that is impacted as best I can tell. The weather changes every 5 minutes or so. So if you are in a climate that starts off with rain or snow, you will probably get snow or rain 5 minutes later, even if you start out with a clear day. (The sky might still appear relatively clear overhead though.
    Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.

It's been all down hill since Shogun. :D

Seriously tho, you click that button until you see blue sky behind you. If there's already blue sky, then don't click it. If you click it all 3 times and you still don't get blue sky, well then you're just screwed. You'll have to attack in bad weather. Life sucks for you today, haha.

No, bad weather can't stop anybody in Rome anymore, unlike Shogun, and a bit less important (but still more) in Medieval.

These ancient peoples are too ingenious. No storms or sandstorms or massive Tsunami would stop the foresters and pharoah's bowmen to shoot effectively against their hated human opponents.

It's just an eye candy now.

The reason it was so important in shogun was the high use of muskets! Since gunpowder weapons were pretty much useless in MTW, the weather didn't have quite such a drastic effect. If you have a musket heavy army in shogun, rain could make the difference between success or a devestating defeat.

How do you think bowstrings react to humidity? They aren't made of synthetics or steel like now, rain could really ruin a bowstring - and depending on the manufactur the bow itself. It'd still shoot and would be deadly, but it wouldn't be what you'd want to go to war with if your counting on it.

I'm guessing the effects are hardcoded for weather?
