    The reason it was so important in shogun was the high use of muskets! Since gunpowder weapons were pretty much useless in MTW, the weather didn't have quite such a drastic effect. If you have a musket heavy army in shogun, rain could make the difference between success or a devestating defeat.

    How do you think bowstrings react to humidity? They aren't made of synthetics or steel like now, rain could really ruin a bowstring - and depending on the manufactur the bow itself. It'd still shoot and would be deadly, but it wouldn't be what you'd want to go to war with if your counting on it.

    I'm guessing the effects are hardcoded for weather?
