    Default Eliminating Command Traits?

I'm looking for advice on how best to effectively eliminate all command traits. Currently, I get too many stars too easily...the AI doesn't. Adding insult to injury, the traits bugs tend to double the traits earned for fighting a battle vs. autocalc. I can't see starting another campaign this way. So I want to ditch stars altogether... Has anyone already modded to do this? Or can you suggest the best way to do this, (change all command star threshholds to VERY high values?)

What a game. Other folks have taken it to the (understandable) extreme of eliminating walls to improve the strategic game. I'm stuck with playing without traits on "medium" as an attempt to get interesting battles.

I'm going to actually add a signature line to address this...

    Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.

    Good luck with it.
Traits seems something they thought was cool from Medieval, and have now taken it too far with all the traits and the ancilliaries. They couldn't even debug it as shown by the hundreds of fixes the CVP did (which CA are ignoring it seems).

Would it work by just making the traits file empty?

I wouldn't remove them altogether because some traits and ancillaries do add a depth to the game, and make the generals a lot more diverse, as they should be.

How about simply changing the trait occurence to half or third (or even a quarter) of their original %s instead? That might work but it would take a very long time to edit all the traits/ancillary stats.

Hmmm, my new sig doesn't show above...so I'll show it off here, as it fits.

Just did a little play and left the traits but removed the effects,
    ie:

    export_descr_ancillaries.txt
change all " effect " to ";" to disable effects from happening.
ie ancilliaries exist but have no values.

    export_desc_character_traits.txt
change all " effect " to ";" to disable effects from happening.
ie ancilliaries exist but have no values.

Another means would have been to set values to 0 or remove triggers. Above was just a quickie by search and replace.

Didn't crash the game so I guess this would do the job.

    Try bug-fixer (look sig).
It partially fixes a problem with command stars.

Never seem to get command start too quickly anymore.
BUG-FIXER, an unofficial patch for both Rome: Total War and its expansion pack
