I thought I would initially be running 1.2, but I guess the et installer is even older then that. So, when I couldnt connect to the server, I figured I should upgrade it to 2.6, but that didnt work either...I dont really wanna install a previous patch on top of the latest, I dont know how the game will react to that. BTW 1.2 is the patch from 2003, how come you guys arent using 2.6 ?

    hi krypta,

yes, i'm using 1.02. do NOT install the new patch. no one seems to be using it and one report says it's buggy....but that is not substantiated. might just be some cranky guy or something.

to play, you'll have to uninstall the patch (not sure that's possible) or uninstall the entire game and reinstall, then patch to 1.02.

the reason i'm running 1.02 is because the servers i play on still use 1.02, so i'd have to lose all my favorite servers.

the game is running just a standard map cycle for now, except i did put 'baserace_beta2' on it and tosa and i played that. it's a very innovative map. you might wanna just go in solo and try it out to get the hang of it. and baserace is currently (as i type this) the only map in the rotation. i still need to learn how to set up campaign rotations, et or shrub mods and so on. so, things are in simple mode for now. your xp will NOT save between maps or campaign cycles.

i turned up the download speed for direct downloading from the game server, but that is still pretty slow. i'll post some links where you can get various maps in a bit.

ok, you can get baserace_beta2.pk3 here: http://www.darkrangers.com/etmain/

just download it and put it in your wolfenstein - enemy territory/etmain folder. no unzipping or anything else needed.

lots of other maps on that site also.

I love ET and play regularly, but I doubt my playing would coincide with the server, and I simply can't cope with the ping of servers not in aus.

well, we had a game or two yesterday and then a few more today :)

participating were tosa, myself, krypta and discovery1.

generally speaking, if we're going to play, it's going to be in the afternoon on weekdays (central standard time) or weekends. i dont put the server up till about 1 or 2 p.m on weekdays and whenever i get up on the weekends (this may vary greatly :)

the current map running is 'mml_minastirith_fp' . make sure it's fp and not fp2. both are on this site: http://wolfmap.de.gaming-networks.ne...ase&ref_id=397 that's a german site, i believe, but the maps are listed in english. i believe baserace can also be found there. make sure it's the version listed in the above posts.

you can also vote to change maps....i think. so, you could run minas or baserace, or the standard campaign. those are all i have up at the moment.

i'm still learning how to make map rotation files, so there's no rotation on anything but the standard campaign. minas and baserace are in single objective mode.

we had some good fun, what with me altering the gravity and game speed settings and both minas and baserace are fun maps.

generally speaking, north america and europe can play during the afternoons in north america (early evening in europe). others may have a harder time.

also, i had a little trouble finding my server in the gamespy list. the only way it would show up was to refresh the server list. so, if you encounter the same problem, that's the solution.

would it be possible to post the server IP so as one does not need to use gamespy or browse thru tons and tons of other server names
