    Default reducing rebel frequency

is there anyway i can reduce the appearance of rebels?

i play on vh vh and am getting tired of constantly clearing rebels for them to reappear 2 seconds later. the way i see it is..

yes rebels or ok in less developed provs but to have them constantly appearing in well developed proves smarts as unrealistic to me. so how can i change this?

u can edit export_desrc_buildings.txt so that when u upgrade the core buildings in ur towns ie, imperial place those ones, so that u get a law bonous when u upgrade them this makes it more realistic cos all the places u conquer start of small(usually) and as they grow u upgrade those builings and they increase law. THIS only effects law in the city making rebellions in ur city less likely i dont know how to make rebels stop appearing on the map or reduce the frequency of it. cheers

i not worried about keeping cities under control as thats fairly easy, its the constant random appearance of rebels that gets up my nose, i mean i have watchtowers everywere and keep my cities in good order and still u get rebels appearing right outside your capital (normally on a chokepoint....or bridge)

i did a search and tweaked desc_rebel_factions.txt reducing all chances to zero but that doesnt seem to have much of an effect

maybe it would be easier to just eliminate them altogether

any suggestions on how this is achieved?

Try editing the Brigands entry at the very bottom of descr_rebel_factions.txt. I don't know what happens if you remove it, but perhaps it will eliminate them. Otherwise, you could try leaving the entry in but with no units in it, or just having a single peasant unit there.

i tried deleting the brigands but game CTD

havent had time to start a new campaign properly yet but if i delete "slaves" from descr_strat do you think this will elimainate rebels?

game still loads and all seems as usual but as i said i havent had time to play long enough to see effect on rebels spawning etc

Wouldn't you have to give control of all the rebel provinces to specific factions?

I remember reading about this a while ago. 2 remedies that I heard about, but never tried either myself.

    1. Build *forts* (not watchtowers ) and garrison them. They "secure the countryside" in the words of a moderator at the .com forums.

    2. Mod the rebels factions file so that rebels can only be made of peasants. This makes taking care of them easier, but does not eliminate them. If you do not leave them any units, the game will crash.

It's sure. I plaied to shogun and medieval before and we had rebels, ut no so frequent. I play in medium level, anyway every moment a new rebel province, that transform tha game in nosing and stupid. We would have to see howe to reduce at easy levekl the rebels without to reduce the other stages of the game.

I deleted Brigands completely a while back, but it did nothing to affect the frecuency of rebels appearing. Instead of them being labeled as 'Rebels (Brigands)' they were just 'Rebels', which really was not much consolation to me. The armies were made up of local units, which tells me that the units listed under Brigads are the specifically Brigand units, but that they also draw units from the local rebel pool (note also that most of the units under Brigands are merc, I think). The trick with deleting Brignads is modifying all three files that influence the rebel sub-factions. I don't recall which three, but descr_rebel.txt ; descr_rebel_names ; rebel_factions_enum ; or something similar to those second two.
