Did you install any drivers updates (graphics card, direct x) or Windows updates (SP1/2) after you played the game successfully?

Remember that this is an old game and it might not like newer drivers/hardware. I can't make the original STW work on my new computer in win xp (STW MI works though) and for MTW VI I have to roll back to a previous graphics driver version.

I don't remember downloading anything new, but I did have a major problem with a hijacked homepadge, along with a number of programs like Cashback, and the Bullseye Network programs, and I ended up using a program called HiJack this, along with turning off my system restore to get rid of everything.
I believe I also ended up clearing out my registry of every program with HiJack this, so I may have eliminated a program that was needed for Shogun to work.
If that was the case, I hope I can get it back. The game was quite good.

Thanks. I have the version from Sold-Out software (Warlord Edition) and the system requirements sate that it is compatable with XP.

I don't think that I downloaded anything new, but did mess around with my registry trying to get rid of spyware programs. I used HiJackThis, and ended up deleting everything in the registry, so perhaps that removed a program that could have helped with the game.

My guess would be a problem with the registry. Re-uninstall Shogun, run a Scan Disc, a Virus scan, and then a DeFrag, then Re-Re-install. MIGHT help. It won't hurt, for sure. Other than that, I have no idea. I'm running WinXP (Home on one machine, Pro on another), SP2, everything up to date and it's running just fine.

    Re-uninstall Shogun-I did it.

Scan Disc- The Scan Disc program said that it couldn't do anything with the disc. I used Disc 1.

Virus scan-I scanned Disc 1 and, Disc 2, and no infection was found.

    DeFrag-I defraged the computer.

Re-Re-install-I did, and still ran into the same problem.

    Thanks.

Um. I meant ScanDisc on your hard drive, same with the virus scan. ;) It's an extremely long shot. You might also... how do I put this? Duplicate your CD for backup purposes, back up the original set and reinstall off the duplicated set. I can inform you of how to do it, just IM me and ask, but making sure it's legal in your jurisdiction is your responsibility.

Perhaps I'll try that, or I could just purchase the game again off of ebay, or one of the sellers on amazon.com.

First, I'll try and download the game on another computer to see if I have the same problem. If I do, then I'd imagine that the disc has become defective somehow.

Also, I have something called CheckDisc on my computer, Would that be the same?

Probably the same, IIRC CheckDisk is Symantec/Norton's special ScanDisc. I'd use it... might find something.
