Default Best female rocker now or ever

Well I saw Sheryl Crow in concert the other night and to me shes the best female rocker around today. She has a great band. She plays bass abd guitar and writes most of her own songs. Shes got a long list of great songs and she certainly seems like a real party girl. If shes good enough for Clapton shes fine with me. She ended the concert with Rock and Roll by Zeplin and I must say I was impressed by both her and the band.

Now as for the greatest of all time thats a hard one. Im stuck between Pat Benatar, Nancy Wilson and heart or Stevie Nix adn Fleetwood Mac with Joan Jett getting honorable mention. Ten of course theres Patti Smith and Pattie Smythe.

    Janis Joplin, no question.

Joplin is great but I consider her more of a blues singer than a rocker.

I'm not sure if she's the best, but to me, the coolest is and always will be Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth.

Well to me their isn't much of a line between blues and rock, but I can see your point.

The Stones considered themselves blues musicians back in the day, like Steppe said: there's a fine line between blues and rock.

Please guys, it's Stevie NICKS not Nix

For her performance of 'Rhiannon' that I saw, she would get my vote, so much energy!!!

Janis Joplin....No I would definitely not call that 'the Blues', more Rock 'n' Roll than Blues and Steppe Merc, there is a great difference between Blues and Rock.

Gawain, do you mean Nancy Wilson? Surely you mean Anne? She was the real force, as opposed to Nancy who was basically a guitarist.

No they were an R &B group not a blues group. Now Cream there was a blues group or better yet John Mayall or the original Fleetwood Mac. THe stones were more like Chuck Berry and Little Richard than BB King.

I don't disagree with you, but they thought they were blues musicians at the time.

Date number 47. Man, she ROCKED.

Seriously, I think Janis was one-of-a-kind and a pillar in the modern music hall of fame. Personally I'm partial to the Wilson sisters, a.k.a. Heart. Always loved those gals.
