Exclamation Taking a break from the Org

I am taking a break from moderating the R:TW modding forums and on the whole from visiting the Org. I have less free time to spend and no longer wish to use it so extensively on this game. The gameplay doesn't appeal to me, support is lacking and the bugs/flaws are irritating me. All in all it is time for me to move on, at least for now.

I will occasionally come back to the forum, but that will be mostly because of some other responsibilities; helping the modders of Sengoku Jidai and finishing some things for Myddraal.

Myrddraal will from now on be the right person to adress to when you are having problems with things are going in the Modding section. He is doing a fine job so I have full trust that my absence will not be causing a lack of moderation.

Thank you all for keeping up the good atmosphere, good luck with your modding projects and take care!

    Cheers,
    Rob

See you around DJ. You've done a tremendous amount for the Total War modding community and though you will be sorely missed I don't think anyone would begrudge you this break.

Many thanks for modding (of both kinds), gods willing, we'll all meet again in Spaceballs II: The Search for More Money.

And good luck to Myrddraal as the sole moderator for these three boards, perhaps in all his spare time he'd like to take a crack at the Colosseum and the Backroom too!

Anything I could say to thank you would be an understatement, what you've done for modders in general is beyond me typing a few words.

Thanks for everything (exept for dumping all the work on me ), and hope to see you around.....

Sorry that you are taking a break, but like you I feel the same way and have started doing likewise. CA has really beaten the community down, intentional or not.
    Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.

Its really sad seeing all the hard-core old timers fading away.
    Bye bye TW community
I'm doing it too, though of course not many are likely to miss me much
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

It is a bit sad, but seems the way of things these days.
But maybe not fading away as much as moving onto to new things?
I agree that the TW community as a whole has changed and many of us have moved on, but CA bears some of that responsibilty!
RTW leaves many with a bad feeling in its current state.
Alot of promises were made but not delivered on, I am sure they have there reasons.
They should take a lesson from a few other games that are released with "Full Modding tools" and capabilities and realize these mods are an asset not a threat.
And serve to bolster the games popularty and longevity, sadly for the most part it is all about Money!
Well did not want to turn this into a rant, but just got a bit reminiscent of the days when I was here on a regular basis ,like many of you now.
I miss the buzz of activity, ah it was all so fresh! those were some good times!

    Farewell...
You were the inspiration to others when the clouds hung low. Now mankind will have to trudge on in solitude on the fields of modding. The time of great explorations are undoubtedly gone (hey I'm on a rampage here in poetry, I could go on forever ).

Godspeed DJ, and I hope you will check up on us now and then, and make certain we don't ruin it for ourselves.
You may not care about war, but war cares about you!

    Bye Duke John,
Maybe we should all follow your example, free time is precious and there sure are much better and more stimulating ways to spend that time.

As Lord Buddha said, " Nothing is permanent, all things must change "

I guess that is certainly true of the Total War series and I believe it has gone too far 'down that road' for things to ever be quite the same. All part of life's rich tapestry, enjoy whatever it is you choose to do

Thanks for the time when you and I were moderating the M:TW Dungeon. And heed this advice: Angus McBride SuXorSSZ!!!11!!one

You helped me understand how flawed this game was and made me realize that this game is not worth my time. Thank you for that!

Not exactly true. Lots of oldtimers are leaving TW and its definitely noticeable. This doesn't make the Org community any less though. Although I do regret to see the MP forum to be so silent. When modding I always looked forward to have it finished and be able to play it online since I do not care much for SP. To read the stories of connection troubles, an unenjoyable lobby and abuse all over the place made me loose that appetite too.

And your maps are defitely woven into my tapestry. I still fondly remember the games I had with Mizu members. Thank you

Kraxis, you are being far too dramatic there!

But as LoS says, it's more moving on to new things then fading away. The Org is still growing with veterans being replaced by newcomers. A different game attracts a different crowd. For some it means they no longer fit in while others are still attracted to the TW series.
I made my first step in leaving some months ago when I joined the Lordz. Not to keep on modding, but to start practising my painting skills (of which they hopefully accept the result). So aren't seeing the last of me yet!

Cheers guys and thanks for the replies!

Its the reason for the fading that I was primarily lamenting.
I certainly don't blame people for it.
I think the words of CA in my sig sum it up quite nicely.
Thats what all these veterans are doing.
    Something else.
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

See ya DJ, it was fun while it lasted. I fully understand your disappointment in support and the bugs and WHY we have new bugs we shouldnt. Also the worry over console games. So far I am keeping interested because I like Rome if I didnt I probably would move on. lol

I hope to see you again sometime maybe some other game or forum, but I must admit I am not heavy into gaming.

Thanks for all the excellent work that you have done for the total war community.

Good luck in whatever you do next!

Mayhap there may yet be a day when a TW game will come forth that shall stay true to the promise of old, and we shall see your great works again...

In all the time we spent 'moderating' together (if you can call it that), I've never been so offended. Maybe when you get a few more Angus McBride books you can take off those Graham Turner tinted spectacles and see the light!

Oh and I don't think I can ever forgive you liking Gerry Embleton more - that's just plain demented!
