    Hello to all you mod experts out there

    (1) Does anyone knows exatly what bonuses does special formations gives? (phalanx, testudos, etc). Are the bonuses moddable or hardcoded?

    (2) I have tried RTR, SPQR and Darth mods. Is it by some coincidence that the same unit stats are close for each mod? For example Hastati has attack around 7 and defence around 14 (I think) for each mod and vanilla. Why not revert to low value simplicity to attack 3, defence 2 like in MTW or STW? Of course all stats difference between difference units will still be the same.

    (3) I have heard of an unofficial patch to fix the horse archer bug. Where can I download it?

    (4) RTR expanded the map by giving more cities in the east. Is it possible to make a mod using a completely different map, say, Japan? I hope there is not limitations to this like there has to be hardcoded Roman factions and senate.

    (5) Unit weapons. What are the bonuses and penalties for different kind of weapons? (swords, spears, etc)

    1) The special abilities are hardcoded yes.
    2) I guess they just chose the stats they found appropriate
    3) Not sure, is this the bug fixer? I wouldn't mind downloading it..
    4) It most certainly is possible. In fact there are many total conversion mods out there. Here is how to DIY: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=39456
    5) Not sure sorry...

    3) He's referring to QwertyMIDX's horse archer fix - but it is included in player1's bugfixer as well as fixes for several other errors in the unit file.
    5) I don't think there are any inherent differences between swords/spears/axes - all variables should be apparent in export_descr_unit file (eg, spear attribute, lethality reductions for axes, phalanx ability, mount effects etc.)

    Thanks for the replies! My apologies for not able to reply sooner. I have downloaded the fix and it works great. Still I hope someone would tell me exactly how much bonuses the different formations give. Oh oh and another questions

    How does the game combat calculate attack and defence to determine the kill? If unit A with attack 1 hits unit B with defence 3, What is the chance of the kill? Someone please shed some light on this too

    Believe me, we would all love to know the answer to that one. No one in the community knows the details of the combat calculations, but several people on the Ludus Magna forum have been trying to work them out. Have a look over there if you're interested.
