Mmmm...tea. Nothing like PG tips with a bit of milk. Even better served lukewarm. It looks like tea has won by a very large majority.

I wouldn't describe a crumpet as a cake, more a type of bready thing. Generally, people toast them and spread butter on top.

I'm not surprised with the amount of caffeine (sp?) you have per day... I bet you're badly addicted, have you ever tried a day without caffeine?

Yeah being drunk doesn't help you have fun that much if you have good friends. Friends is all you need. Drinking does help the day at work go by faster and more productively though .

The only difference is that I was talking about alcohol and you about coffee and I just realized that, lol.

I was going to call it a kind of bread, but then I thought that crumpets are a little...fluffier than bread, really.

I suppose they're just crumpets. Don't like 'em very much, in any case.

Crumpets are the best!! Nice fluffy pieces of bread, which you toast to perfection, and then smother in butter!!

ooh, there's nowt better than a nice cup of hot, sweet (1 sugar), milky (1/3 milk) Assam tea (Twining's Finest) in the morning, with a bit of shortbread for dunking, although hobnobs last longer, but aren't as good.

Hobnobs last longer, but there always little crumbs that keep falling off into your tea, so it ruins the tea. I prefer digestives. Just leave them in there for a few seconds, because they're like sponges. Only problem is, if you leave them in too long, then they break up, and you get big lumps of biscuit in your tea. Then you end up like Peter Kay.

'Maaam, me biscuits fallen in me brew!!! Get a spoooon!!' *reaches into the tea for it, only to find it's very hot* 'Aaaaaaah, baaastard!!'

OK so from the photo it appears that crumpets are what we call English Muffins .

Don't piss us off or we'll change the name to Freedom Muffins (like we did with French fries after they balked at helping us in Iraq).

    OK, I gotsta know - what's a hobnob and a digestive?

Sorry, I'm immersed in American culture and don't get oversees often.

Hobnobs and digestives are biscuits. It's probably easier to use pictures to explain.

    Hobnob-

    Digestive-

They also come in chocolate varieties, but you probably wouldn't dunk them in Tea so much. Hobnobs are flakier and more oatmealy.

I always eat biscuits if we have them.. but I particularly dislike hot drinks so I'm not a fan of the whole "dunking" and "dipping" thing.
