    Default Agents

    Folks,

I was wondering if agents (assassins or spies) helped to catch enemy assassins like in MTW or STW.

Would having an enemy assassin in each of my settlements help protect the governer of the settlement ?

I've lost several family members to assassination and I wanted to try to protect them.

    Cheers

I normaly put a spy and an assasin in every settlement. A spy to counter spy agents and a asasin so that when other agents get close you cna easily eliminate them. I use ths to protect everything from generels to diplomts and so on.

Yes, you can also send agents with your armies to protect generals in the field from being bribed, assassinated, etc. The more spies you have in a city or with an army, the lower the chance the enemy has of making missions against you.

more of a factions spies in a enemy city makes the population unhappy, but more of a factions spies in his own city makes the population of that population unhappier

No, that's not quite right. Having your own spies in your own city reduce the Unrest of that population. Enemy spies increase the Unrest in your city. The more spies, the greater the Unrest they can cause, sometimes leading to revolt. Your own spies in your own city WILL NOT cause the people to be less happy.

Spies is a nice way of taking settlements from an ally without risking war!

I'm pretty sure with spy vs. spy, it's the number of "eyes" among the spies on each side that matters, not the number of spies. So that, for example, four spies with 9 eyes among them cannot completely counter the influence or actions of 1 spy with 10 eyes. They might effectively reduce that 10-eye spy's skill to a one-eye rating, not sure about that but there was a good thread somewhere recently that explained it in great detail...
