RTR wont load!

for the third time i have downloaded RTR and my game wont even load to the menu. IT just starts and then crashes to my desk top, what gives?

What versions are you using, of RTW and RTR? Have you ever, in the recent or distant past, modified the installation of RTW you're using for RTR? What order did you install the patches in?

im using the new patch for RTW and i downloaded the RTR starting with 5.2 to 5.4 and the RTR custom.

Please clarify. Have you ever modified RTW before installing RTR? Did you install the patches in the correct order (5.2, then 5.3, then 5.4, then 5.4.1)? What is "RTR custom"? Also, are you using the full install or the patches?

no i put them all over a fresh copy of RTW and i downloaded everything from the website in the order that the read me stated. RTR custom is on the forge board, but it i have reinstalled RTW 3 times and still cant get it to work.

Try enabling the -show_err command line switch, like so: Create a shortcut to RomeTW.exe, then right-click on it and select Properties. In the Target field, go to the very end, after the quotation mark, and add a space followed by -show_err. The line should now read something like:

"C:\Games\Rome Total Realism Test 6.0\RomeTW.exe" -show_err

Now try starting the game again. Hopefully it will return an error.

Did it work before you installed RTR? Did it work after you installed RTR, but before you installed RTR custom?

Please be more descriptive, and please answer my questions. Otherwise, I can't do much to help you.

1) Did you do what I suggested in my last post?

2) If so, did it return an error message?

3) Did RTW work before you installed RTR?

4) Did it work after you installed RTR, but before you installed RTR custom?

4. i reinstalled my game and tryed just RTR and it still wont work, but it has worked before when i had it installed, i dont get what the problem could be.

i had the same problem and solved it
1. un installanything connected to the game anything !
2. install v 1
3. install v 1.2
now listen carefully 4. startthe prolog playit for few minutes includingthe first battle
5. install 5.2
6. install5.3
7. install 5.4
8. install 5.4.1
9. play it !

Maybe you have a corrupt version of RTR. Try re-downloading it. Or you may want to give up at this point, if you don't want to bother with the probability of still more failures.
