Tough break about the floppy, clayton. I can sympathize. I had a floppy with some stuff I wrote (not a book) and part of the disk got corrupted. I got most of the writings off, but there is some I couldn't recover and I've yet to come to terms with losing - I still have the disk.
Looking for a publisher is a wise decision. Unfortunately, that part of making a book has little to do with your historical smarts. It is a sales pitch. Some can do it well, other can't. I know I couldn't. Just keep writing. The more you write the better you'll get.
