I then clicked open in new window

then left clicked "Find all posts by Patron"

Search thinglet is bigger than it seems. Wikipedia's search had been disabled for a few months for "performance issues" as well. Then somebody gave them additional servers...

Just think of what a search does: it looks at every post and tries to match what you are looking for, hence it does stress the server quite a bit.

So rather then finding what you want and watching the entire site crash on everyone the function has been disabled.
