Anyone know why watchtowers are not available to be built in Belgica?

Build a watchtower where there is some space i.e. not in a forest..![]()
It's not the money, it's specific to Belgica. Anywhere I try to go around there it won't let me build anything, whether there are trees or not.
Another thing about Belgica is that everything moves slower there, even with paved roads. I think it's all swampland or something.
Funny thing though--The last battle I had in Belgica, there was a stone henge right on the beach! Why is it they can build a henge made of stone right on the beach in Belgica, but I can't build a wooden watchtower?
Do you own Samarobriva? Are you using a general and not a captain? Sometimes the most commonplace things are the ones people most forget about.
Of course I own Samarobriva, lol
yeah had that too. i also couldnt build forts
We do not sow.
Dont know why that is then. In all my briton campaigns I have ben able to build watchtowers and forts in Belgica. Anyway you definitly need them to keep an eye on those backstabing germanics.
yeah, i've had it two, its in the same area of belgica where you get the flood event is memory serves me correct. right on the coast.
indeed
...so is this a bug, or not? ...never tried building a watchtower there (i don't use them often :-D) but i'd like to know, just in case...
EB DEVOTEE SINCE 2004
Not that I know, but I think it might have to do with the swamps. Try to build it in non-swampy areas, if it is possible.
You may not care about war, but war cares about you!
One thing have cheated me in the past:
If your general is adjacent to a foreign unit (like a diplomat) you can't build a tower! Don't ask mey why, but it's true. So make sure, that you're not standing next to another unit.
That said I've had some weird behavior on the watchtower-issue in the past. Once I couldn't build towers in Illyria, never found out why.
