Thread: Earthquakes , it ain't fair
Tribesman 00:06 04-17-2005
There I was , just about to wipe out Numdia , then rumble rumble along comes an earthquake . Two whole armies decimated , a top general killed , a fantastic governor gone , plus one useless good for almost nothing family member who was building watchtowers obliterated .
Yet the final Numidian city that I was about to take was completely unaffected by the devastation
North Africa ? is it worth it considering the distances involved to move armies . Or was this a once in a game time experience ?

I've seen some minor quakes in the game (and a few beauties in real life happens sometimes when you are sitting across the bay from an active volcano) but I've never seen one that powerful.

I really would have liked to see the sea storms take a rather heavy annual toll on navies. About the only "safe" place should be in port. Transportation of armies by sea, and naval warfare in general seems to have been fraught with storm related catastrophes of the 1st order--until the last century or two. The sea was a far worse enemy than the opposing navy in many circumstances.

I suspect some quakes are bigger than others.

They might also have epicenters...

You just have to cope with natrural disasters. I was just about to take my army to invade carthage and then i huge storm wiped out my whole fleet and everything in it.

Just a bit. Ouch.. lol. I lost a fleet full of Principes once but thats not too big deal. It was my best army at the time but I recovered with out much bother.

I have never once seen an earthquake.
Plenty of storms, plagues, and volcanos, but no earthquakes.

Either that, or my mind just never acknowledged them as being significant.
