3) He's referring to QwertyMIDX's horse archer fix - but it is included in player1's bugfixer as well as fixes for several other errors in the unit file.
5) I don't think there are any inherent differences between swords/spears/axes - all variables should be apparent in export_descr_unit file (eg, spear attribute, lethality reductions for axes, phalanx ability, mount effects etc.)
