Default A seeming "diarrhea" of vice/virtues gained.

After upgrading to VI, I noticed that my generals (princes and decent generals in particular) gain vices/virtues at a more frequent rate. Also, I have noted that all these virtues "spiral" to their most expressed form in less than a decade. For instance, if i gain a prince with the v&v of "chinless wonder," in a few turns he will have an "odd number of toes" and a few more years he will be fully "inbred." This progression is now always eminent and encompasses any general and all progressive v&v's. The result is that all I cannot have any decent generals due to the fact that they will all invariably will be "inbred/dead drunk/avaricous" retards in time. Is there a variable in some file that controls this frequency and progression? I also feel that the statistics of my princes have suffered since installing VI. I have reloaded everything and I still find these problems. Could anyone help fix this or help me understand why it is this way?

My solution: Keep generals on the front and engaged in near constant warfare to gain good traits.

I do not know if there is a file you can change to get rid of this problem, but I have not noticed it in my own games. I will have to che4ck this out.

To slightly expand on what Uesugi said, it's best to keep your guys moving around in general. You don't even necessarily have to have them actively fighting all the time, so long as they're not just sitting around in a province for long periods doing nothing. Inactivity seems to be the biggest single cause of governors and generals developing bad traits.

Thank you for your help. I have since uninstalled everything and put it all back together and I have not had quite the same problem. I do want to note that after installing VI, the 'secret pride' vice doesn't only remove -1 command but also removes the accumen that 'pride' should. I have installed the 2.01 fix. Has anyone seen this too?

Also, try lowering taxes. Even after lowering my taxes empire-wide to "high", I noticed a drop in vices and a spike in virtues.

Yes, I have noticed this as well. Admittedly, however, I can't remember if that happens with just VI installed, or if that was the case in the original Medieval also.
