    Default post your poems

    here's one of me

    WAR
    Shields, shields of silver
shining in the pale morning light
    Shields, shields of silver
    marching towards foreign lands

    clashing swords fills the air
    blood spills the earth red

this day is a black day
    today a hero died
    the pencil has been overthrown
    and brutally casted aside

    We do not sow.

very good emperor, heres my poem/signiture you tell me whether its good or not

master of puppets i'm pulling your strings
twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
blinded by me you can't see a thing
just call out master i'l hear you scream
your hybrid children watch the sea
pray for father bound by me
victim of what i said should be
    now you're mine
    running blind threw killing feilds
    bred to kill them all
one more purpose left to serve
    serve me till you fall
lashing out the action, returning the reaction
weak are ripped and torn away
hypnotising power, crushing all that cower
with your heart and soul i play

GIVE UP HOPE ALL HE WHO ENTERS HERE

ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee

here's a new one (not mine though)

if i'm lying in the sun i'm black
if you're lying in the sun you're brown

if i get mad i'm black
    if you get you're red

    if i'm sick i'm black
    if you're sick you're yellow

    if i'm cold i'm black
    if you're cold you're blue

    if i'm warm i'm black
    if you're warm red

    if i'm dead i'm black
    if you're dead you're white

    and you call me coloured

    We do not sow.

Correct me if I'm wrong master of the puppets, but your signature/poem seems have a large part of it made up from lyrics in Metallica songs. It feels disjointed when read, some of the ideas expressed don't seem to go together and do not support one another. you should try to connect them in a better way... maybe it's because it's hard for me to read them without thinking about their individual songs.

I recognize the last bit, Give up Hope all ye who enter here is from Dante. I can't write/don't like to write poems, so I will continue with my tiny stories.
"A man's dying is more his survivor's affair than his own."
    C.S. Lewis

    heres some of my poems.....:

    Existence, in a poem.

I put forth my claims for all to see.
I challenge the basis of cultures old and new.
I insult everyoneís view of what it means to be.
I condemn the principles behind actions trillions do.

Do you believe god was created?
Either you do, or you believe he always existed.
Now the yes or no answer shall be debated.
    My views shall be persisted.

Assume the answer is yes: and god was always here.
Then why could we not have always existed?
This makes just as much sense, and it is just as clear.
Iím sure that, to my views, you have still resisted

So now, lets assume that the answer to the question in no.
And you think he was created: you, a man of knowledge.
And he is the almighty: he is everything, this you know.
So that in mind, he must have been created from nothing.
If this is your answer then there is something I must show.

Does it not almost seem like child play:
to assume god was created from nothing, and then god created the universe?
When the universe was created from nothing, is what many say.

I must argue that this extra step in the creation of life
seems almost crude, and utter fantasy.
I believe it is fictitious and born from strife,
and is foolishly how many base there life.

    Referring to my past question:
whether you answered yes or no,
there are counter points more reliable and proven
with facts and points I did easily show.

Now, for me to make my case more solid.
A history of religion is due.
Though that, in itself, is both laughable and horrid.
I shall, none the less, explain it to you.

Man, out of instinct, must know everything.
When he comes upon a question he cannot answer,
like an unaided musician, he will make his own words to sing.
He will base his life upon them, he will move his limbs to the music like a dancer.
Comfort and support this will bring.
And then: others will see this manmade incorrect answer.
Not knowing as well: they will be swayed with ease.
They, not knowing that this was said without any candor,
will assume it as reliable as a breeze.

And then every once and a while,
    someone will come along.
    Acting both frank and guile,
He will attract friends both weak and strong.

He will challenge the answer the older man set forth.
Some will follow him and others will not.
And then from this point henceforth
Wars, arguments, and bitter struggles will be plot

Then this shall repeated for infinity.
sometimes more than once at the same time.
    Always everyone claiming divinity.
And always, every time, a horrid crime.

So religion is both negative on society,
as well as a silly folly and counterfeit of the truth.
I ask you all to act in propriety,
and in this world of modern philosophy be very sleuth.

    History is Hate

A pity it is to think on
    The blood lost for naught
A pity it is to think on
    Wars been, and being fought

Protect those few with a father
    Do not expose the blood
Protect those few still in tact
Do not turn water into mud

    never expose the innocents
To the hate of our history
For then they will not be innocent
    And peace will never be

    Peace

    Where is the man
Who has a one sided coin
    Where is the soul
    Who never pays the toll

    When will you awaken
    When will you learn
Donít run form death in fear
    For the pain lies here

In those hungry eyes of the starving
In the mind of the betrayed
In the ego of the aggressor
    Life, death, which is lesser

I tell you there is no light
    There is no heavenly hall
    No feast upon arrival
    Neither death nor survival

    So donít run from death
    Donít prolong the wait
    But donít get to specific
For itís neither evil nor terrific

    Itís peace..

    Just Beyond That Shed

    Just around that shed
Lies a land I shall claim
And I shall be the first to tread
The lands that will earn me fame

And beyond, in a distant cave
Lies a beast of infamous fear
And lies a people I will save
    When the beast shall disappear

And farther then lies a man of hate
    Who murders people for fun
But his time will soon abate
For at my hands he shall be done

And farther then where thereís sand
Lie pirates who shall put me to sea
To take me to yonder land
    Indeed pirates await me!

But now Iím older bigger and stronger
And I know thereís no pirates on the sea
But how the day grows longer
Now that no pirates await me

    lifes candle

    A candle amidst the darkness
A flame burning till its end
    Life crawls as fire sputters
A fire many wish to comprehend

    And slowly wax gives way
Being spent but not yet lost
    Sometimes it finds a foothold
Coating the future like a frost

And that flame shall ever burn
So long as time is left to melt
And frost can be relived with fury
Or it can pass by hardly fealt

But donít think old wax is lost
For its waiting to be rerun
    And it shall ever coat
    The future, not yet done

    The Maximum of the Mind

ďwhyĒ is the greatest point in understanding
Eight lines when immersed in thought
And even though the motion of seeking finds no answer
It grasps a locked door and ďwhyĒ is wrought

Can something be born from nothing
    Itís a theory few heed
How could there be nothing, more, how could there be something
Without soil, and born from no seed

Perhaps a seed is not needed
And god supplies what we are
But then were was god himself seeded
    Eight lines, not very far

And now open gaping arms clash with wood
And slowly search and find cold metal
But it will not turn and in reality never could
And ďwhyĒ has yet to settle

On my knees I lay before the world
Scouring for an omen with every sense
To allow my road to be unfurled
So I need not ponder this point hence

I need to be pointed on my way
For I can not choose on my own
For I see lives ruined in a day
And one road leaves the other unknown

I donít want to lunge one way into
life, when I cannot turn around
So I sit here with all my roads in view
I might be heading wrong, I wish not be bound

And that is why I sit in wait of an omen
So I know to which is right
A door into the answers den
Just a chance to see truths light

    Hells Hidden Trough

Evil shall be made by truths protector
And evil will rise in form of gem
When the judge becomes more guilty
Then those he may perhaps condemn

And fate has now set his course deep
That power shall change mans own will
    And no justice is expected
For the poor souls placed in the sill

So seek no justice from power
For twas gained at morals price
And those with power find themselves
A part of evils very own device

And there is little one can hope for
As now the trap has been set off
And the latter that shall lead to power
Is also hells very well hidden trough

    Truth against Proof

Do not hold stead fast to a truth
For it may obscure a change
    For everything has some proof
    And truths can rearrange

So do not hold fast to one cause
    For it may obscure another
And do not hold fast to one life
For one can change to the other

And when another proof shall rise
    Do not cast it away
For proof can change truth to lies
But only if thereís a mind, to prey

Let the words of all proof
    Linger in your head
Until one proof emerges as truth
And weighs you, to cause: like lead

    here are some.

    Bungee-jump
    the fall was beyond description
the depth was way too deep
    or should i say hight
    cause does it matter anyway

(it is a bit stiff in english)

as a christmas ball beautiful and round
makes you stare with open mouth
amazing with all it's beauty like a pearl
faster broken than a porcelain dish
    a baby seconds born
with it's life on a thin red line

for the dutch people around here

als een kerstbal mooi en rond
doet jou verstommen met open mond
schitterend met al zijn pracht en praal
    breekbaar als een porseleinen schaal
    een baby pasgeboren
met ze leven aan een zijden draad

GIVE UP HOPE ALL HE WHO ENTER HERE is the inscription over the gates of hell, or so says shakespear (srry if i can't spell his name)
and "Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee" is what the grim reaper says to his victims. long ago when a person died in a village the church bells would toll, the spirit of the dead would remain ignorant to there death until the reaper came to tell them "ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee"...i dunno, i thought it was really poetic

here is one of my origional poems

i stand upon a feild of combat
littered bodies no green to see
    smoke migled with burning flesh
blood consumed by a thirsty ground
    my eyes roam over death
and i try to grasp humanity
but no humanity can i find
for as i see the blood, carnage, hell
i cannot cry... i only smile.

i dunno...i don't like this peice all that much...you tell me

I think Shakespeare must have stolen that phrase from Dante, because in Dant's Inferno the inscription over the gates of Hell is "Abandon hope all ye who enter here" My english teacher last year had the quote in his room with the name Dante next to it, I think Shakespeare stole it or you got them mixed up.

    Quietus
    On infinite hiatus.
    Onward and upward
    toward the precipice of life,
    the only way to achieve,
    Quietus.
    The what and the how,
    who and the why,
    The things and the people
    around you, above you,
    before and behind you,
    the thoughts and the processes,
    compiled in due time,
    objects and forced mind,
compulsory ideas that have made you go blind,
    quiet you, quiet us,
    Anything and Everything
    Obsolete, once you reach,
    Quietus.

Heres my first ever (and probably last ever) attempt at what nice people would call poetry.

A Lament For Rome: Total War.

It was a day like any other when I did read,
On teletext news that filled me with joy inside
A sequel for my favourite game, no less indeed
And so to the shop on the bus I did ride.

30 Pounds! never mind! It must be mine,
On the homeward leg the manual I did absorb,
And the screenshots on the back looked rather fine.
It worked first time! With delight I roared.

I played as the Julii and claimed victory as my prize
And so to Carthage for a second campaign
And again I had won in quite short a time
Could it be true? Was the AI really so lame?

The East I decided would prove harder to tame,
The Seleucids I would pit against the Eygptian might
But once again I was upset with the game
For my phalanxes shifted right until out of sight!

To the internet I looked for solutions you see
I heard on these forums what I wanted to hear
A patch was released and whatís more it was free
One point two I thought what a great piece of gear.

But something still didnít seem quite right
The AI stayed at home until I made it dead
Why could they be so reluctant to fight
But you see the save game bug had reared its ugly head.

Sod the campaign! To Multiplayer I shall go
How strange, My opponent has all desert cav
A balanced army surely shall overcome this foe
But once again alas, they were better than what I had.

Oh Rome Total War why so good yet so bad?
Some bits are great but the bad bits are kack
I do hope this fiasco is but a passing fad
ĎCos Im still going to buy the expansion pack.

Just for the fun of it, eh?

    An ode to Subjective Reality

    Admiral Bird once was heard to comment on the cold;
But what did HE know up in the snow,
    Tho he was very bold........

For 'reality' is not what you see,
    It's something that you 'think'....

So next time you 'smell' , you'll know quite well
    It's you mind that stinks!

I have the heart of a little child, and the brain of a genius; I keep them in a jar under my bed.

These are some Poems i wrote Awhile back. Poetry was a hobby of mine i have not been keeping up with.

    Lifeís Candle

    A candle amid the darkness,
A flame burning till its end:
    Life crawls as fire sputters,
A fire many wish to comprehend.

    And slowly wax gives way
Being spent but not yet lost.
    Sometimes it finds a foothold,
Coating the future like a frost.

And that flame shall ever burn
So long as time is left to melt,
And frost can be relived with fury
Or it can pass by, hardly felt.

But donít think old wax is lost
For itís waiting to be rerun,
    And it shall ever coat
    The future, not yet done.

    Is that you, or them?

Each day you dress up, youíre running away.
Put on that fake smile. Laugh at all those jokes.
Just keep yourself busy. Or come the day
It should dawn upon you; your lifeís a hoax.

And when you put on that work uniform
    Remember itís not actually you.
And remember when you obey orders
That its not what you really want to do.

So donít let them plant for you the seeds of
Youíre worth. Or else it is not truly pure.
And what we see isnít the hand but the glove
That society places on and calls the cure.

So do not let them alter your mind
Or inside you itís not you, you will find

    History is Hate

A pity it is to think on
    The blood lost for naught
A pity it is to think on
    Wars been, and being fought

Protect those few with a father
    Do not expose the blood
Protect those few still in tact
Do not turn water into mud

    never expose the innocents
To the hate of our history
For then they will not be innocent
    And peace will never be

    Peace

    Where is the man
Who has a one sided coin
    Where is the soul
    Who never pays the toll

    When will you awaken
    When will you learn
Donít run form death in fear
    For the pain lies here

In those hungry eyes of the starving
In the mind of the betrayed
In the ego of the aggressor
    Life, death, which is lesser

I tell you there is no light
    There is no heavenly hall
    No feast upon arrival
    Neither death nor survival

    So donít run from death
    Donít prolong the wait
    But donít get to specific
For itís neither evil nor terrific

    Itís peace..

    Just Beyond That Shed

    Just around that shed
Lies a land I shall claim
And I shall be the first to tread
The lands that will earn me fame

And beyond, in a distant cave
Lies a beast of infamous fear
And lies a people I will save
    When the beast shall disappear

And farther then lies a man of hate
    Who murders people for fun
But his time will soon abate
For at my hands he shall be done

And farther then where thereís sand
Lie pirates who shall put me to sea
To take me to yonder land
    Indeed pirates await me!

But now Iím older bigger and stronger
And I know thereís no pirates on the sea
But how the day grows longer
Now that no pirates await me

    The Maximum of the Mind

ďwhyĒ is the greatest point in understanding
Eight lines when immersed in thought
And even though the motion of seeking finds no answer
It grasps a locked door and ďwhyĒ is wrought

Can something be born from nothing
    Itís a theory few heed
How could there be nothing, more, how could there be something
Without soil, and born from no seed

Perhaps a seed is not needed
And god supplies what we are
But then were was god himself seeded
    Eight lines, not very far

And now open gaping arms clash with wood
And slowly search and find cold metal
But it will not turn and in reality never could
And ďwhyĒ has yet to settle

On my knees I lay before the world
Scouring for an omen with every sense
To allow my road to be unfurled
So I need not ponder this point hence

I need to be pointed on my way
For I can not choose on my own
For I see lives ruined in a day
And one road leaves the other unknown

I donít want to lunge one way into
life, when I cannot turn around
So I sit here with all my roads in view
I might be heading wrong, I wish not be bound

And that is why I sit in wait of an omen
So I know to which is right
A door into the answers den
Just a chance to see truths light

    Hells Hidden Trough

Evil shall be made by truths protector
And evil will rise in form of gem
When the judge becomes more guilty
Then those he may perhaps condemn

And fate has now set his course deep
That power shall change mans own will
    And no justice is expected
For the poor souls placed in the sill

So seek no justice from power
For twas gained at morals price
And those with power find themselves
A part of evils very own device

And there is little one can hope for
As now the trap has been set off
And the latter that shall lead to power
Is also hells very well hidden trough

    Truth against Proof

Do not hold stead fast to a truth
For it may obscure a change
    For everything has some proof
    And truths can rearrange

So do not hold fast to one cause
    For it may obscure another
And do not hold fast to one life
For one can change to the other

And when another proof shall rise
    Do not cast it away
For proof can change truth to lies
But only if thereís a mind, to prey

Let the words of all proof
    Linger in your head
Until one proof emerges as truth
And weighs you, to cause: like lead

I dislike poetry with the fiery passion of a thousand suns but unfortunately I've been told I'm fairly good at it...

Do poems here have to specifically pertain to war or history?

I did not mean to censor your beliefs. I merely had an issue with the way you expressed them. I apologize if I was to draconean in my actions, but I was in an awfull hurry and the internet kept failing me.

No, almost everything goes. However, I am a bit queesy about allowing potentially inflammatory material here. Many people have strong feelings about religion (or politics, for that matter), so we'd rather keep those in the Backroom.
