    Default Re: Best Game Dialogue

I never played Grim Fandango, but I hear it was a real hoot. Since it came out for Windows 98, I wonder if it would run on XP. I guess Lucasarts has given up on adventure games with the cancellation of Sam and Max.

I just saw an Icon's show on G4 Tech TV profiling Tim Schafer who developed Grim Fandango along with the first two Monkey Island games for Lucas Arts. Much of the humor in all of those games is his.

His own devopment company Double Fine just released "Psychonauts" which is getting pretty good reviews. It is about a summer camp for kids with psychic abiltities. Some of the lines I have heard from the game are outrageous.

Personally, The funniest dialogue and voice acting I have heard in the last few years is from a 3rd person shooter released last year by LucasArts called
    "Armed and Dangerous".

There is almost an hour of some of the funniest CGA cut scenes I have ever seen in a game. I was developed by Planet Moon studios who previously made Giants: Citizen Kabuto. The shooter part of the game is not half bad either and has some of the zaniest weapons you will ever see. I never tired of watching the "land shark gun" or the "worlds smallest black hole in a paper sack" bomb.

The humor is a cross somewhere between Monty Python and Mel Brooks with a bit of The Princess Bride type story thrown in. Lots of StarWars and Lord of the Rings parody bits--all done with sharp English humor.

I have played through it several times just to enjoy all the gags again.

The game really got overlooked when it was released because it had to compete with some big names that came out at the same time-plus there was no multi--, but the great thing is you can get it just about anywhere
    for $10 now.

Just make sure there are no sharp objects around your computer when you play, so you won't hurt yourself when you fall out of you chair laughing. It is that funny--at least I thought so.

    Cheers

Artillery adds dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl.
