    Default Latin Voicemod 1.0 finished

Latin Voicemod 1.0 has been finished. It replaces the battle-commands for the Romans, with commands translated to, and recorded in, classical latin. This mod alters the files Voice1.idx and Voice1.dat

The installer is very userfriendly, and also backs up any original files, so you can uninstall this voicemod when you choose. It also explains each part of the process of the install.

The voices that I haven't touched yet are the battle-events (the day is ours) and unit-names (tree-ah-ree-aye), those will be released in future releases.

    You can download it here:

I love the fact that we've got modders working on the audio elements of the game as well as the visual. Can you give us a few examples of what some of the battle-commands now are?

Good work! Out of interest, do you do all the translation and voice acting yourself? If so I'm very impressed - Latin is one hell of a hard language.

Duncan_Hardy: Thanks. Nope! I was far from alone on the translations. Already mentioned in the readme, reservoir_frog and teleklos archelaou helped to refine and perfect the latin translations. So the translations went through 3 filters of people, first me, then frog, then teleklos. Each one more critical.

I did all the recording alone though.

    Epistolary Richard:

Here is the exact finished list of translations, from my .doc file

Classical Latin voicecommands for VoiceMod - for RealMod
    Format: english = alternative1 - alternative2 - alternative3 x# (# : total number of sounds)

Group: Plural, imperative & vocative, patrician speech (general/captain of the army)
Unit: Singular, imperative & vocative, patrician speech (general/captain of the army)
Individual: "Plebeian" speech - 'H' not pronounced (common soldier)

    * = word repeated, but possible change of grammar
? = denotes strong uncertainty about the previous word, look for better substitute if possible
x = denotes an exception where the command is being spoken by a low-level unit-commander instead of the general

Some commands will be completely ignored since some commands have been removed from the RealMod, such as the Screeching Women.
The language must be as realistic as possible - this is not prose nor poetry, so find words to express the inherent brutality of war (without exaggerating).

Forms of addressing troops: Often ”mīlitēs” was used, if general is older he sometimes said ”iuvenēs”. Sometimes they just said ”Rōmānī” and the very emotive (and Caesar-favored) ”commilitonēs” (co-soldiers, which is maybe why he appealed so much to lower classes, he wasn’t placing himself above them when he’d talk to them!). Sometimes ”fortissimī virī” (most brave men) and even ”manipularēs meī”. ”veterēs” is also an option. ”Quiritēs” was very patriotic, but not as common.

I think he's asking if there is any progress on the whole VoiceMod, 'cause there are more languages planned, like Ancient Greek and things.

Usually I hate to reanimate dead topics, but I have a simple question: The latin voice mod doesn't seem to work with rtw v1.5. Is there any updated planed? Does anybody know how to make it compatible?

    Thanks in advance.
