    Default Sid Meier's Pirates! 2004

Has anyone else here played this game? I honestly can't stop playing it (only the premise of more info about EB will draw me away). I think I only played a demo of the original, which was released in 1987, but am I ever glad that ol' Sid decided to redo the whole thing. Very rarely does a game suitable for all ages come that is actually worth playing by people of all ages, but this is and I'm completely addicted.

There was a fairly long thread on this a couple of months ago. It is one of the few games I've seen where virtually everyone praised it.

You just can't seem to stop playing it, you're always thinking "I'll just sink one more ship" or "I'll dance with that beautiful daughter from St Kitts once more" and then stop , but you never do. Only a few games give me that feeling, and they are usually turn-based such as Civilisation or MTW.

Ah, I went looking for a thread, but found nothing. Surry.

I played the new Pirates! intensely for about two weeks and haven’t gone back to it. For as good as it is, after two careers I felt like I mastered it and then it seemed repetitious. I had done all there was to do.

In time I might go back. There are time periods I haven’t played yet. I may have simply burned out on it.

Yes, it lacks enough depth really.

Personally, I prefer Port Royale over Pirates, for the primary reason that you can stay out at sea for an infinity amount of time, and your crew will never complain, nor will your rations dry up.
