Default Story of the past... where all is but a legend

I am playing English and have expanded to Russia where i am locked in a battle with the Egyptians. There is this Eygytian General which got 4-5 stars in all his stats, he led an army to invade one of my lands. As the seige wore on, he was whittled down to his own unit of 13, but no he did not retreat. I decide to open the castel gate lure him in and close the gate behind him that way he will be trapped within my walls to face the arrow towers and 250 English Man of arms of mine.

I open te gate and the Egyptian General rode in with his 12 guards, they are shot down by arrow towers or my men and only left the Egyptian General himself and the unbelievable thing happens, he cut through my men and proceed to chop down my men one by one like a Jedi. I was shocked, the arrows hit him to no effect, he kill every men i sent at him within the walls of my castle,he literally litter the grounds of my castle with the bodies of my men single-handley and proceed to the inner keep where my General is situated with his Knights.I charged him with my general and this Egyptian General slew all my general's guards, my general cower and flee into the inner keep where this Egyptian General calmly rode foward and cut off his head taking the castle. He had slew single-handledly 200 over of my men and my general...... It was insane.

I invade him with my 3 star general the next turn, he had 500 + men and i got my 3 star general fought a one on one personal combat with him as my general had lost all his guards. They fought a few rounds and i see that my 3 star general got push back with the Egyptian General in a Craze.

I move a unit of handgunners (30 of them) into some bushes in an ambush, I craftily retreat my general towards the bushes with the Egyptian general in pursuit. When the Egyptian general pass by the bushes, my handgunners fire a volley at him and smoke stream out of the bushes. The Egyptian general
was killed instantly... A brave and courageous general that no general of mine can best was slain by peasants armed with primitive handguns.

Yes, the "Uber-Jedi Generals" are a fairly common phenomenon in M:TW. I've seen generals (both the enemies' and my own) plow through 500 men before being taken down. This is why it's often a good idea (as you've already discovered) to try and kill generals with missile troops. You pour enough arrows/bolts/bullets into the guy, he'll drop eventually......

It remembers me of my Danish king...
In my mod the danish gets the Varangian Guard as royal unit in high and late, so it's not uncommon to see the king leading the charge into the fray... Once i started having 5+ stars kings i just used to send the king's unit along with a handful support units to capture the provinces... Those 80 varangites slew thousands enemy troops with ease, until they got killed by a massive spanish army in a last stand...
With less than 1000 men they faced 18000 spaniards which had fairly good units, including lancers and the dreaded almughavars (those guys rocks!)... After over 6000 enemy soldiers were down my king's unit was finally wiped out by a shower of javelins while fighting against some pesky crusaders. It was an epic battle, only surpassed by the head on fight against the Horde in Kazhar (yes, i like facing them the hard way, after all MHC is an easy prey of heavy AP units in the woods... obviously it wasn't the same king)
The best is yet to come.

Welcome to the boards dude ! Great story ! The uber generals are a little much... At least you can take solace in the fact that in the end your personal choice of tactics won the day.

The 200 that died in the castle? Along with the egytian general, they will be remembered as hero's.....
There are few things more annoying than some idiot who has never done anything trying to say definitively how something should be done.

Yes, the egyptian General slew 200 of my men single-handley in the first castle siege battle plus my defending general.

I was wide-eyed as the egytian general slew my garrison and too the whole castle by himself... But i am glad i had ambush him in the following battle with handgunners and slew him.
He is too much of a threat for future battles thus he got to die.

I had the same problem....almost. The Mongol Khan, Ogadai, was camped outside my artillery towered fortress in northern Russia with an army of the Mongol's best that outnumbered me 6-1, atleast. The first cannon ball fired from behind my ranks hit their Khan, and ONLY their Khan, while all the rest of his men dodged. Then afterward, I held the gate against 1000 Mongol Heavy cavalry with 50 urban militia. talk about luck.

    LOL!!

This one time I had a unit valour 15 royal knights and the managed to kill an entire unit of rebel chivalric men at arms without losing a single unit. I sent them in a straight line, 1 rank thick, against a block of chivalric men at arms and they maintained that line in a disciplined manner until they had slayed all of them.
