    Default Phalanx formations

There are some mods out there that have removed the officer from phalanx units, and the formation is modded so that they are all in one long line (however many soldiers deep), with no gaps. Will anything like this be implemented into the EB mod?

You can do this yourself if you use the -/= keys correctly when out of phalanx formation. This is true for all units.

Not quite sure I get it, but I'll try it out I suppose and hopefully see what you mean. Thanks.

wiht the _- and =+ keys you can alter formation depth. so if you select (example) all you infantry, group em and click singe line. you will now have gaps. press _- or += or enlarge or remove the gaps.

PS this does NOT work with units IN phalanx

Hmm... I tried it out but that's not exactly what I meant... and plus even if that was exactly it, you would have to manually do this before or during every single battle, which isn't all that practical. The way I was talking about, the formation files are edited so that it starts out as such. I'll post up a pic of the default formation for the phalanx in the coming minutes.

Yeah I know what you mean. I wish that I could do this, which I think is the same idea as yours:

    1) Group a bunch of soldiers

    2) have a button in the formations that says "join units" which would basically just make there be no gaps in the group between the units which compose it.

    3) Then you could use the -/= keys to alter how wide the whole group is, instead of just the units themselves.

This is something I'd like to see in the expansion, as it seems that the group capabilities are far from being fleshed-out. Imagine pressing a button which tells your units in that group creat an outward defensive position? That would be awesome - creating a box or a circle or something which conforms with the terrain in the most tactically defensive way.

Oh the possibilities make me queazy that they'll never be realized by those who dicate the progress on the hard-coded side of it.

So ya, that's what that's all about. So will EB be considering this? It's the way it should be isn't it?
