    Default need advice about beds

i am in the need of a new bed

i am not sure if i should by a spring coil bed, a water bed, or a foam bed

today i but a desposit on a spring coil pillowtop bed that costs around $1500 CAD after taxes

i have a few days to get my deposit back at no penalty to me. that's what i'm thinking about doing.

i dont know much about beds, but from what i can tell, it seems that spring coil beds are an obsolete technology which are a thing of the past

    is this true?

is there any good reason to buy an expensive spring coil bed in this day and age?

or are foam beds and water beds always the better choice?

in which case the question is: which is better between foam beds and water beds?

if you know about beds, please post your thoughts on these questions in this thread

I'd get a water bed for the ladies...

My spring mattress works fine for me, but I'd suggest you go and try out all the beds at the store. Lay down in them, roll around, find a comfotable position, see if the bed deforms under pressure. Just try them and see what bed you like.

i was just reading about water beds and it sounds like they could get me in some trouble since i'm moving into an apartment and the land lady might freak if i suck up that much hydro from her. she's already banned washing and drying machines from the apartment. guess water beds were never added to this list simply because no one ever had them yet. and also what i read suggests that if the floor is not stable it might cave in or something due to the weight. which means i could possibly crush the person in the apartment below me to death if my floor/his ceiling collapses.

thing is, i did lay on all the good beds in the store and none of them felt comfortable to me. they all felt really hard. they were all pillowtop mattresses too.

first he showed me $600 - $800 ones which were on sale; the normal price being something like $1000 - $1200 on those.

after that he showed me another one that was on sale for $1150; the normal price being $2000 on that one. that's the one i put a deposit on

but for that price couldn't i get one of the NASA foam ones? i've heard those are really good. except the store i was in only sold spring coil beds

    Banned washing machines?

I live in Australia which has water bans but they don't ban washing machines...

I'm a fan of firm beds myself, and i, unlike many people, like spring matresses. I also have really bad back problems (considering my age) so yeah that may be the reason. I'd say. check out the Nasa foam ones, if ya like it get that, if not get whatever one you like.

Just my personal experience, but I really don't like water beds. Just far too much movement. But I think you have the best idea, shop around and try different types out. A water bed might be right for you.

water beds are nice but they can be bad for your back.

Get a nice air bed - like Select Comfort or Advance Comfort

You can vary the firmness depending on your mood or requirements.

Whatever you feel comfortable in, simple as that.
